  1. I actually asked about the average beer consumption of a certain Walküre a while ago....
  2. About the 16" and 18.1" guns: That said: Panay might not be greedy, but imagine a fleet of U-Boots armed with Fritz-X guidance system equipped V2s. All three weapon systems were already in service, tested or researched in '39.
  3. No, that would be meta gaming since the joke wasn't there in '39.
  4. Don't let Welly hear that. He'll hunt you down as a heretic.... also what Legate wrote. XD
  5. Thank you very much legate. As you can see in my post above I wasn't aware of it. I'd like to point out for the hasty reader: I was speculating about all the possible destroyers the KM might have ingame. And I "declared" 7 to 8 of them as "probably in". And that's a realistic number I guess. But I admit later '39 additions can inclue destroyers commissioned after the 1st of Sep. So that derails my speculation a bit. ^^"
  6. Edit: Since this game sports captains and not admirals I changed my Screenname accordingly. I'll won't change it in the text below so it stays original. (for english scroll down please.) Was denkt ihr? // Good Day dear fellow Admirals and Captains, straight away: This topic is for all who want to play the Kriegsmarine as their main fleet ingame or want to use KM-shps as their favourites. Since you can place a whole lot of RPG in here, I thought it would be best to place the topic in the writer's corner and not the general forum. (dear mods, if you disagree, feel free to move it.) I will now introduce myself: You will know me or know me already as Admiral Korky within this forum. You might have guessed me to be from germany and since it doesn't matter how bad your team is (considering you're playing nazis, if you choose germany ingame), you'll stick with it or can go.... well whatever. Because of that I will choose the Kriegsmarine ingame but will try ignore a certain austrian corporals influence on world history. So all belles who are open fascists (yes, I'm looking at you Nürnberg) will be placed either on the substitutes' bench or send on suicide missions. But my limitation won't end with fascism. Most of soviet belles are far too political and open pro communism and some other belles from other ideologies are morally impure as well. Morally impure means loosely being in love with their "home-system" or their leader more than me and the mission or being of corrupt behaviour at sea. Either in character or in service records (surprise attacks are NOT impure.... stuff it Mahan). For example I-8 is to me a war criminal, nothing else. Read the interviews and try to see what I mean. BUT..... every "partybelle" will have a big spot in my heart..... Kirov, New Orleans... y'know who I mean. Until now I have only read interviews and watched the short updatevideos about gameplay. Through this I have formed my "dreamteam": Flagship: KMS Admiral Graf Spee or KMS Scharnhorst Battleship: HMS Hood Cruisers: IJN Kumano, RN D'Aosta, Kirov, USS New Orleans and HNLMS Michiel de Ruyter Carrier: IJN Hiryu Destroyers: Hans Lüdemann, Diether von Roeder Submarine: Surcouf the future will tell what other Belles will be added or if this team will prove itself. What's your opinion? What's your ideal Marine? I'm eager to hear your replies. And please speculate to your hearts content about german belles and which one you would love to see..... and which ones you disregard. Alle Mann an Deck, Admiral Korky P.S.: Ask me for german words or translations. I love it.
  7. They are forgotten by the allies because they were an embarrassement for the allies and by the germans because KZ-prisoners and also the more prominent sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff around the same time. And W.G. were "true germans fleeing the evil russian" and could also be spun against Russia as a war crime (which it wasn't in the most technical sense of the definition). And Cap Arcona gained prominence in germany later on, compared to Steuben or Goya, which had a similar fate to Wilhelm Gustloff. But that aside: The story of the HMT Lancastria is a tragedy in it's own right. Especially since there actually was a real cover up of it. Which was never the case with the ships ninja or I mentioned.
  8. Just a hint about "prussian destroyers": Hans Lüdemann. I couldn't find his birthplace, but his name indicates he was rather from the Kingdom of Hannover, not Prussia. So one off your Prussian list. (I think I mentioned it somewhere else already)
  9. Hi alle zusammen, Ninjapacman gave me the initiative to talk german starters. If I did not miscount the KM has 20 potential starters. (1934 and 1936 destroyers ready prior to Sep 1st '39) Was anywhere mentioned how much starter the major powers will get each? 5 or 6? What will you do @Ninjapacman, if there is one more prussian than Z17? Z8 maybe? Her namesake was a prussian and did a very "prussian" thing at the end of the war. Which could be the reason why Z9 is not in the game, because they did "it" together, but Z9s namesake wasn't prussian. Or Z20 could be an interesting choice if you like Torpedoes and I would think it's in the game for one very good reason. It survived as the only 1936er if I'm not mistaken. Z19 is probably in and a good choice if you like CQC, war heroes and hate England. Btw if I choose Z18 I so much hope Z21 is in the game as well. That'd be sweet. But I think it's realistic to say she was scrapped from the list for being too similar in name background. Z3 is very similar to Z1, so she's maybe out as well. Z5 on the other hand..... this little 1934er is connected directly to Graf Spee. Ninja, if she's in.... maybe she leads you to Spee. As starter or later reinforcement. One of Z6, Z14 and Z15 could be in. Or all. Because their namesakes have a direct connection to the Skagerrakbattle*, which is still to this day the most important sea battle in german naval history. And all three ships survived WWII. And the namesake of Z15 died on the one of Z14 after his ship was sunk. Just a little something maybe? The namesake of Z16 also died in the Skagerrakbattle, but in contrast to the others: Z16 sunk during WWII. And hell yeah Z10 would be one for.... "if I told you I'd have to kill you", maybe? At least she can probably speak fluent english. Z2, Z4, Z7, Z11, Z12, Z13 are probably all out as well, since they all strike me as rather.... uninteresting, compared to the others. Except maybe Z13 because "unlucky number", but then again: Z1 and Z3 (who put together are 1 and 3 = 13). That's just my speculations. I take the approach of "doubled history equals one of them is not in the game", but the "ships with very similar namesake stories are more likely to be all in the game" approach is valid as well. But each major fleet has only between 15 and 20 ships total in '39 so naturally not all Zerstörer will be in it. *Battle of Jutland for all british spies.
  10. Oh, it is. Or do you think they'll let you start with a Battlecruiser? @Ninjapacman To not bore the uninterested, follow me here.
  11. The french navy should send its regards to Urza. He just doubled its points and linked it to the other majors. He also helped the IJN nick place 4 from the soviets.
  12. Hello everyone, this idea came to me since it's every now and then a topic that heats up in the Forum and on the discord: Who's you favourite Belle? Maybe it would be interesting who it is for the average captain. So why not start a Topic about it. My idea is to show a Top 10 of the most liked Belles. For all with a weak memory this is the link to Shiros list of Belles. It works like this: You post here or send me a list of your (up to) 10 favourite Belles, and I will compose a ranking out ouf it. Your top 1 gets 10 points, top 2 gets 9 points all down to 10 who gets 1 point. TOP 10 (please read after you made you list).
  13. One thing keeps bugging me for a while now: How will the uninterviewed starter be able to compensate for their lack of fame, compared with the interviewed DDs?
  14. Here's my vote. Enjoy. All letters are written in german, because Korky knows only tiny bits of english. First letter, in an official envelope of Korky's unit, addressed to INPF Communications office, to the hands of Ms. Argyris. My vote is Diana Argyris/INPF DOC and Viola Pascal/Italy. I split my resources 50/50.
  15. I want to give an elaborated answer, but I lack the time for it. How long will this be open?
  16. As someone without inside knowledge of game developing I was unsure, because you dropped the "connecting Frontend - Backend" terminology and that made it look to me like you'd progressed further. But you connected some parts, and the outstanding parts are to be done in that field of problem? "the client" is the term I'm looking for here? Or did I get confused again? Also if the client is ready, then a beta will launch or is there still additional work to do?
  17. Some ideas: End one: It would not be mentioned in germany if possible, german navy personnel had to remain silent about it and the ship would be decommissioned by the german navy. It would go over to the INPF completely and ignored if possible. Most german captains would refuse to serve together with it. End two: The Belle would be publicly treated as a traitor, tensions against Belles would arise on different levels. Maybe the german navy would try to blow it up "by accident", maybe not. It would never again be mentioned in the "Wochenschau" (weekly news reel), radio and the newspapers, except in a negative way to spin the "jews are evil and deserve to die" narrative. She would probably be called "the jewish belle" which sounds descriptive, but anything "jewish" is meant as an insult in nazi-germany in general. German captains would be treated as traitors if they cooperated with that Belle. End three: The jew would be killed if possible, the Belle put under interrogation (assited by Belles like Nürnberg, natürlich) or sunk.
  18. The german navy has deconstructed one it's last two landing crafts. It was a surprise deconstruction, when it was to be repaired for a last time. So it's scrap already but not decommissioned. The official decomission will take place in late October. Now the german navy has only 1 naval landing craft left, the Lachs. Who really is a "alter Lachs". *ba-dum-tuss*
  19. Good day, since I found this very interesting piece of news online, I thought it would be a good moment to start a contemporary naval history thread. The first post is about the subs of the Royal Navy. For everyone who missed the link: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2017/05/prudent-ask-britains-nuke-subs-also-hit-ransomware/
  20. Sooo... are we out of 1938, the Anschluss of front- and backend is complete?
  21. Well @Panay's Ghost what can I say, except: Also PMJ will come to town next year. I'm super excited and want to go. But at the same time I'm super confused why they chose the stupid location instead of the perfect one....
  22. Which military rank do the Belles hold in the various navies? Are they even recognised as persons or just things? How do the officials react? And on further notice do the sailors react initially? It was already said it's a great honour to harbour a Belle, but my latter questions aim at the "first impressions".
  23. Disclaimer: This will be the last post about Korky in the KMM. The KMM-thread was not intended to carry Korky’s story, it kind of happened since I decided to start with “off-ship” scenes. I used this to show a little bit of what I imagine could have happened during those days in 1939 germany to a captain like him. To show a bit of the “surroundings”, like a glimpse into the bureaucracy of how a captain gets finally assigned and stuff. But since Korky finally arrives at his ship I will continue his story in a future pure FF-thread. Link to come. And a big thank you to @Wellington99, who helped me out with mancunian for Ruhrgebietsdeutsch. 17.Oktober 1939, Marinearsenal Kiel, 0200h. As the car closed in on Kiel, Korky got better. The sea air probably helped him to feel like the captain he was and wanted to be. The only thing dampening his mood, was the intricateness of the navy administration. Instead of simply letting him into the naval base commmand, the UvD insisted he only had papers to gain entrance into the arsenal on the other side of the Kiel bay. Or once through the whole city by car. After some blandishing the UvD finally understood Korkys problem. He would only be granted permission if he had reported to base command first. Korky never got why they made things so complicated in Kiel. Just one hour later the OvD* had finally finished Korkys papers and he could steam off. Now, slightly bugged, Korky got out of the car into the drizzly night. He said his goodbyes to his driver and walked over to the mole, where his ship was supposed to be docked. The outlines of the ships were clearly visible, despite the obscuration and the lousy weather. All Walkürenships had been moved to the rear side, the arsenal. In the base itself only ships without Walküren were docked. Korky positioned himself at the edge of the mole and gazed into the slightly rainy night. With the lousy sight, he could only adumbrate the navy base in the distance. But when he turned around he could see the huge dockyard halls closely behind the arsenal. What could he expect since he had seen his Walküre only briefly and then not anymore for quite some time? How was the crew and in what kind of trouble did they get? Was everyone still there? He walked on calmly. „Halt watchword!“ a voice shouted suddenly beside him. Abeam stood two navy soldiers in a small watch shag. Korky told them the watchword**. After some control questions about his whences and whereabouts, Korky was granted passage. The gangway of his destroyer*** was down. The moment he set a foot on the gangway, a voice was heard from above: „Halt, who’s there?“ Korky looked up. It was the tall Müller. „Your captain, Bootsmann!“ Korky responded. He slowly climbed up the gangway. „And be quiet, the men want to sleep.“ said Korky as he reached the Bootmann and put his finger on the Bootsmann’s small whistle. Is’ meine Kajüte leea?“ fragte er weiter. You can pipe aboard tomorrow when everyone’s awake, can’t cha? Is my cabin free?” he asked. “Yes, Herr Kap’tän.”, saluted Bootsmann Müller. Korky saluted back, “I’ll ‘ave a kip then. Tell the morning watch they’ll line up quarter past changing of the watch. Then your watch can prep up as well.” Korky walked past the tall Müller slowly and looked around. It felt good to be back. He could feel how a certain amount of stress fell off of him. He slowly proceeded towards the captain’s cabin. Careful, almost affectionate he rested his Hand on the railing and whispered “I’m back.” Just then the ship swayed very gently, as if it just wallowed through a gentle bow wave. „Was it her?” Korky asked himself. He saluted another sailor of the watch he came across and went into his cabin. Tomorrow would become very interesting. *OvD = officer of the watch **Hah, zought I’d shpill military zecrets in times of woar! Not wiz zis vriter. XD ***I’ll name it once I’m sure which destroyer I’ll choose. In other words: After the game release.
  24. It's a story for a hurried reader, but I like it. For it's small amounts of words it shows a good range of emotions and situations. Nice.
  25. Cheers @Wellington99. Your question got chosen. Congratulations. Here's the link. Tell us what you think, fellow captains and captainettes.
