  1. @Legate of Mineta: Has any major progress been made in the game this month?
  2. Archmage Rises is a fascinating game in development - which is fully turn-based! And Punch Club 2 is being released this year! I hope that Acadmagia's 2 is also developing well.
  3. @Legate of Mineta: 1. How large is Zoe's familiar Carol? 2. Has there been any research into the magic through which familiars gain and lose intelligence?
  4. @Legate of Mineta: 1. I understand that Tabin is said to seem foreign (although his homeland is not mentioned), Oan speaks about Sung as if she is tired of people asking her whether she is from Sung (suggesting that she is at least somewhat obviously foreign to Mineta), and Miya flaunts her foreigness. But does Sima seem to be foreign in any way to the average person in Academagia? 2. I understand from the lores related to the Shohanwicht school that there was, before Gates magic was banned, a tradition of writing narratives about mages discovering other universes through gates magic, some of which accounts were believed to be true. Were any such accounts held to have literary merit? If so, were they completely destroyed when Gates magic was banned (at least officially) or do they remain highly controversial because of changing laws and norms, rather like "Huckleberry Finn"?
  5. Great. If I read nothing here by tomorrow morning, I hope that I can ask for an update.
  6. Do you expect, @Legate of Mineta, that I will have an answer by Sunday?
  7. @Legate of Mineta: Has the proposal been considered? If not, by when can I expect it to be?
  8. @Legate of Mineta: In real life, complete invisibility would lead to blindness, because eyes' lenses must intercept at least some light in order to work. I assume, however, that magical invisibility, at least at the more advanced levels, avoids this problem. But do some invisibility spells create invisibility at the cost of total blindness? Or ensure that at least the eyes' lenses remain visible? Such spells, I assume, would be cruder and less useful - rather like a fire lance to a hand-cannon.
  9. @Legate of Mineta In my story "Sima’s Gift" and through the remnant of the cover’s leather into the bottom of a garbage bin should be and throw the remnant of the cover’s leather into the bottom of a garbage bin in all occasions.
  10. Great. If you or they have any questions, then you can raise them here or through a PM to me - I would only feel comfortable divulging my name/email address in a PM.
  11. I write these words after a very stressful past few months, during which my mother's cancer, which I have mentioned, was only one of the issues which I had to deal with. But during that time, my love for Academagia, although unmanifested in participation in this forum, remained strong. I have, accordingly, what I know to be a very strange proposal for Black Chicken Studios. I would like to secure from them the permission to use certain characters and aspects of the setting in a novel, set in our real world (with the exception of the fact that Academagia is not a game in it) which I want to write. I would be fully prepared to pay a fee for this privilege, and I would naturally acknowledge in my novel's disclaimer the source from which I gained such material. I hope that I could complete writing the novel within approximately a year, after which I would submit it to Black Chicken Studios for their consideration. If they like it, then I would love to try to publish it through Amazon, where all manner of terrible things get published. I would gladly discuss this matter in more detail through personal messages (and email if we get to that). I am, I assure you, not wanting to write a novel in bad taste, nor one which would be presented as replacing the original game/setting/characters. For what it is worth, Jack Vance the Science Fiction/Fantasy author did something similar, allowing Michael Shea to write a novel entitled "A Quest for Simbilis" about Cugel the Clever set within Vance's Dying Earth. @Legate of Mineta, your kind response would be welcome, and your harsh response would, I fear, be deserved by me.
  12. @Legate of Mineta: I hope that the game will continue its development during 2023.
  13. @Legate of MinetaAs a suggestion about Sima Venesico, forbidden magic, and foreign-looking practitioners of forbidden magic, consider the following. A PC with knowledge about Sima Vensico's interest in forbidden magic (such as through her Y1 adventure) could, upon meeting foreign-looking practitioners of forbidden magic in friendly circumstances, have the option to ask them whether they know Sima Venesico, a Hedi Student with an interest in forbidden magic, only for them to say something along the lines of "Any intelligent person with such interests learns to keep whom she knows with similar interests hidden from other people. So I will not reveal such information to you." I hope that this is a suitably vague and interesting answer which would allow many encounters and adventures to be more reactive to players' choices.
  14. @Legate of Mineta: Has any progress been made on Y2 this month?
  15. @Legate of Mineta: Does the Schohanwicht School accept older transfer students often? I ask because gates magic's illegality may mean that it is less easy to ensure that people are gathered with the same approximate ages and levels of experience.
  16. I hope that Pelia has some scathing comments towards a PC who switches to Vernin. And that Lambert has, at minimum, a major opinion malus towards PCs who switch to Aranaz college.
  17. "Noblesse Oblige", by Hannah Powell-Smith, sounds quite interesting. I loved her Crème de la Crème game. Noblesse Oblige: a Crème de la Crème Adventure is a 140,000-word interactive Gothic romance novella by Hannah Powell-Smith, a standalone story in the Crème de la Crème universe. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. On a windswept island, far from the mild shores of Westerlin, stands the estate that is your new home. You have been hired to work as a conversation partner for a lonely aristocrat. It is a profitable opportunity, and your impoverished upbringing and middling university education leave you few others. But secrets lurk in every darkened corridor, and nothing is what it seems. Why does your charge go wandering in the middle of the night, haunted and mourning? What does the charming new secretary seek to uncover? Why is your elderly employer so intent on keeping outsiders from prying into the family's business? Attend grand balls, ride through fast-paced fox hunts, spend jovial evenings with the servants, teach diligent lessons to your charge, and observe—or take part in—this northern land’s religious rituals. Meanwhile, there are webs of deceit for you to unravel, and deep mysteries to explore. When you reach the end, will you bring justice to those who deserve it, or keep their secrets buried forever?
  18. @Legate of Mineta: Anything new in Y2's development?
  19. Will the player character have an option to take a Y1 course during a later year in any way?
  20. I take it that the fact that you were considering such a thing is an excellent sign. Am I right?
  21. So, what colour are her irises between dawn and noon and between noon and sunset?
  22. @Legate of Mineta: Does Senara Sen look foreign to the average Minetan? Or even, like Neta, unhuman?
  23. @Legate of Mineta: Can we write stuff for the game in which Senara Sen appears - just being all mysterious and perhaps giving subtle warnings about gates?
