A New anime

21 posts in this topic

This one is about a bunch of girls going to a school to learn magic. Sound familiar? I like the art style but I think I'll wait for a few more episodes to come out before I try watching it to make a judgement to follow it or not. This trailer's in Japanese, but the visuals should be more than enough to give an idea of how it is.

Okay this look interesting enough. I agree, the art style seems great. I will probably watch it as it releases this month.

No comment from the Legate on the end of the trailer yet? Shocking. I almost thought someone on the Team was responsible for that. hehe.

I thought it was the old anime movie I pointed you towards and later in return you pointed me to an early announcement of this TV series ^^

Well, although the setting is obviously different, the premise at a glance is nearly identical to Academagia. The Man-eating flower and giant Chicken seems lifted straight from the game. It seems that people around the world enjoy the same stuff.

Also, that "No!" seemed mighty hasty! ;)

It's animated by Studio Trigger, a great studio that also worked on other popular shows such as Kiznaiver and Kill la Kill. If anyone is interested, you should definitely check out the two short films. They are both on Netflix for easy viewing.

The OVA was kickstarted a couple years ago and was really good, now they're doing a full series.

It should be fun.

After watching the currently released episodes, I do get a vibe of Academagia but that could be a result of shared tropes. So far we got a Catherine Chard attitudes from some students who believe letting in folks from Non-Magic families was a result of the school needing grant money. Families that pride themselves for their long lines. Strict Teachers and a strict school setting. Basically imagine if the student body was a mix of Vernin and Avila combined in a all-girls school. Food looks way better though.

I'd be surprised if most of those school-related tropes weren't already codified, to some extend, somewhere in the late 19th century.

That's only because the Academagia puts it's students through magical trials at every opportunity! Don't like your food? Then learn how to change it.

I still haven't seen it, but I intend to now, once a few more weeks go by.

Finally saw it. I liked it a lot. I'll probably continue to watch it now. :)

Although I will say that apparently Luna Nova has issues with the cafeteria food as well. It seems the heroine doesn't like the idea eating nothing but cheap potatoes all day! Bwa hahahaha!

Well it still looks better than what food is described as in Academagia. Also didn't they say that the uniform is not the dress one? So why all of a sudden, it seemed to be the dominant uniform?

It's the more traditional one, of course!

I'm enjoying this series. Especially funny is the scene where Akko (attempts to) translate an actual crow.

And having a goldfish as a teacher is priceless. Especially the hat, it's so over the top, yet somehow still manages to take itself seriously.

Damn!

That plot twist! I've got goosebumps! Has everyone seen the recent episode? There was lots of foreshadowing! Holy cow! That's how you write a story!

I finally caught up and I thought it was amazing that the antagonist have been shown way early in the beginning with no one being the wiser.

Oh, Legate, we just want to gush, haha!

But seriously. Everything's coming together nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing the ending. But at the same time, I find myself wanting more... ;)

It depends on how they end it. I like shows that end on a high note.
