Academagia v 3.0.8

130 posts in this topic

Hello all,

Here's some info on the new version of Academagia: The Making of Mages, which is now available!

1) WHERE TO DOWNLOAD - This is a major revamp, so you will need to download the entire game again from BMT, if you do not want a STEAM key. Please note the new system specifications as we no longer offer official support for Vista.

  • Minimum:
    • OS: 7, 8, 10 (x64 OS)
    • Processor: 1 GHz
    • Memory: 3 GB RAM
    • Graphics: DirectX 9 or later with 1 GB RAM
    • Storage: 400 MB available space
    • Additional Notes: .NET 4.0 Framework
  • Recommended:
    • OS: 10
    • Processor: 2 GHz
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM

2) REQUESTING A STEAM KEY - If you purchased this game via any vendor besides Steam and GamersGate, and have retained email proof/confirmation, please email academagia @ gmail.com with Subject "Academagia: Steam Key Request" to get your Steam key. Please allow up to a week for us to verify and send you back a key, although we expect in most cases, it will take ~2 business days.

If you do not have email verification, we will do our best to verify with the reporting available to us, but there are no guarantees. You will need to provide

  • email address you used to purchase Academagia (if different from the email you are currently using)
  • date of purchase, and
  • vendor
  • additionally we may need your full name if we cannot verify the above

GamersGate customers - Your Steam key should be accessible via your account and you should not have to email us. If you have problems accessing your account, please contact GamersGate support. In order to ensure that each customer only gets 1 key, we cannot grant you a code if you are having GG account issues and emailing us instead. We apologize for this, but we have no access to customer order details on GG.

3) SAVES COMPATIBILITY - We've done our best to make sure saves from the old Academagia work in this latest version, however, due to the complexity of the modding system, we cannot guarantee that your old save will work. There may be some data loss during the conversion to the newer format, specifically:

These students will have one less spell:

  • Aveline Aranaz
  • Grainne Aranaz
  • Raoul Aranaz
  • Malacresta Aranaz
  • Rikildis Aranaz
  • Cinzia Avila
  • Olivia Avila
  • Neso Godina
  • Isabeau Hedi
  • Ausdauer Hedi
  • Leopold Hedi
  • Reitz Hedi
  • Girars Morvidus
  • Joana Morvidus
  • Philippe Morvidus
  • Hector Morvidus
  • Mairgrete Morvidus
  • Rixenda Vernin

If you are trying to load an old game that used mods and encounter an error, please try:

  • Starting a new game with all the mods selected that were used by your old game (this builds the cache)
  • Once your cache has been built, now try loading your old game

For example, if I have an old save called "OldSchool.ams" which used "Mod 1" and "Mod 2", I would start/save a new game "Temp.ams" which used "Mod 1" and "Mod 2". Finally, I would load "OldSchool.ams".

If the above does not work, you may need to verify that you have a clean install of Academagia before trying the above steps again (making sure to delete old version completely vs overwriting files, and to clear out cache, etc.). Just make sure to retain your saves and mods so you can carry them over.

4) WHAT'S NEW? - List does not include everything, but here's the major stuff:

  1. DLC 17 - The First Touch of Summer
  2. UI now scales to different resolutions
  3. UI layout can now be changed according to user's preferences (many components can be repositioned, resized, etc.)
  4. Text font size is now adjustable in major areas of the UI
  5. Scroll bar added to many components for quicker browsing
  6. Enabled up/down arrows for scrolling in major areas
  7. (Steam only) 8 Achievements
  8. (Steam only) Trading Cards
  9. Over 200+ content issues resolved

That is it for now.

Thank you!

Stardock.com have under my Account the option Order History where you can download the Receipt if you bought the game at Impulse.

I think that should be good enough prove for BCS.

Natural you still need your old login data for Impulse / Stardock for this.

I still have my email confirmation of purchase from Stardock, which also should be good enough.

Just to be clear, you are saying that DLC17 will NOT be compatible with previous installs? As Until I get access to the steam release I have to rely on the old Impulse installer which is definitely not getting updated, lol.

Also, will those of us who participated in the alpha/beta need to send our info anyway? Or will we just get our keys sent automatically? Never mind, I know the answer to this.

Edit: will this spell loss on conversion also happen if converting an endgame save for Y2 when we finally get that converter?

Question, were Academagia published by platforms other than impulse? I can't remember where i brought the game from. Desura, Impulse, and Steam are all checked.

3) SAVES COMPATIBILITY

Speaking of compatibility, has BCS tested whether DLC 17 runs fine on the old class skipping bug client? 'Cuz if so I'm more than willing to throw the updated UI under a bus...

Metis & free;

It should be fine, I would think.

free;

I don't think it's known about Y2 converter yet, but it could be.

Zero;

Gamer's Gate, rather than Steam, but otherwise those were the major 3.

We can send our proof of purchase now right? I can't wait until it drops for release.

I have no idea who I actually bought the game from, the receipt is from the e-commerce company that handled the credit card transaction, but I sent along the receipt anyway. Hopefully that's good enough.

Didn't Beam Dog sell it also for a time and wasn't there a cloud gaming service that closed its doors that "sold" the game?

I don't recall where I bought it and don't have an email receipt, so I'm just gonna need to buy it again.

Is XP still supported? I noticed that was gone along with Vista, probably to avoid confusion, but...

That'd be some level of irony, if the only OS to fully support the mod tools can no longer support the actual game.

I hadn't considered that!

Well, in 5-10 years we'll get the Y2 modtools which will fix that conundrum.

Makes sense given the advancing level of tech and the constant attempt by Microsoft to force windows 10 on us.

We can send proof of purchase now? Or wait closer to release.

Ascartand;

I *think* it's fine to send now. I can't say for certain they will process them until the 20th, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, speaking of that:

Is...there a reason why 10 is recommended?

...I find that to be a rather...shaky argument considering Academagia itself is over 6 years old by now...

Its a revamp?

Plus putting something else essentially makes people less likely to pick up the game for no reason.

Ascartand;

I don't know that I would call it a revamp, but it has been modernized in some aspects, including pieces of the engine.

So a revamp which is to: give new or improved form, structure, or appearance. Or as an act of improving form, structure or appearance of something.

That is the case it is mostly UI work. Which it is right? or did the team add more than just the UI.
