Schwarzbart
Would Academagia send out an investigation when each year 1 or 2 student are gone missing during the summer break? (Wondering because of my new suggestion ^^)
Legate of Mineta
S; Mmmmm. It would depend on the Student. Likely they would first try to contact the Family.
freespace2dotcom
Quote Likely they would first try to contact the Family. Mundane or magical? Does that depend on the student too? Given the setting, and how important time is in search & rescue, (Not to mention missing classes!) I would think they would make sure as quickly as possible, but... Rhialto
@Legate of Mineta: 1. how common are betrothals among nobility? 2. Is there a minimum age at which a person must be before being able to enter a betrothal? 3. Is conspiracy to help a person violate a betrothal (by, for example, not being present at a wedding or somehow voiding the betrothal contract without the consent/knowledge of the parents) a crime? isadorbg
I think those question where already ask so from what I remember: 1. Very common. 2. No. 3. Not sure about this one but the answer is probably depends on the country/family involved (as in it's not the same thing to help break the duke betrothal than to break an impoverished one with a burgher)
Legate of Mineta
Free; Well, during Summer Vacation, the Academagia doesn't have custody, so it would need to be the Parents (or Guardians.) Rhi; What isadorbg wrote, in all three cases.
freespace2dotcom
About how many games does the University Rimbal team play over the course of the school year, and who are the biggest rivals which draw the biggest crowds when they play?
Legate of Mineta
This should be an entertaining answer. I'll ask.
Rhialto
@Legate of Mineta: It has been mentioned that studying reptiles is proscribed. Does this mean that Uliva, if caught studying reptiles without permission, could be executed?
Schwarzbart
snakes are worms cant' you see that? They move exact like worms, have no feet and all this, but compared to the normal worm they are just a bit bigger.
Legate of Mineta
Rhi; It would be unlikely that she would be, but in theory, yes.
Schwarzbart
So they didn't simply classify snakes to Worms to avoid any problems in this direction?
Legate of Mineta
No- there are too many Dragons that have an appearance similar to snakes for comfort...
Rhialto
@Legate of Mineta: 1. Has any student, at Academagia or any similar educational institution in the Empire of Man, ever been executed for illegal reptology, or is this merely theoretical? 2. How would one gain permission to study reptology (not just at Academagia)? Are the permissions supposed to be carefully recorded? 3. Would it be legal to suggest that a similar licensing scheme be adopted for gates/mastery magic?
Legate of Mineta
Rhi; For these, I'll ask.
Schwarzbart
About question 3: For the Mastery sub-school of Syncrhonicity, that we already can learn through year 1, you need a licence! But if you read the adventure for it you should know this already. I personal suspect there some more sub school of Mastery and Gate magic that could be learned if you have the right licence (like Gate magic banishing or maybe even teleport) but its a big No for the general study of both schools. Still it could be a step toward complete allowing both school again to give some young students a licence to learn from old masters of this schools so that the knowledge not get complete lost. Schwarzbart
1) Is it possible to have the queen of hive insects (like a bee queen) as familiar?
Legate of Mineta
S; It's generally thought that Bonds with insects are not practical. But a Queen? Maybe...;)
freespace2dotcom
What makes spiders an exception, then?
Rhialto
@freespace2dotcom: Spiders are not insects, but arthropods. @Legate of Mineta: This talk about the practicality of Familiar bonds makes me think: Would it be correct to think that Familar bonds are first formed involuntarily by magic users around puberty, but that as they grow more magically proficient, they may choose to take another familiar instead? If so, is there a procedure at Academagia to force students (and possibly professors) to change their familiars, as Louise Kandinsky has been told might be best for her? Furthermore, are there some mages who, having mastered the familiar bond, choose to use this mastery to forgo a familiar bond altogether? Finally, although whether people have taken other people as familiars is redacted, is there any law against doing so?
Legate of Mineta
Rhi; There isn't anything at the Academagia to compel you to change Familiars, but it's not uncommon to receive that pressure from peers or family- and, in some cases, employers. Legate of Mineta
Rhi; 1) The Bond can occur even earlier- sometimes while in the womb. 2) Yes. 3) Not explicitly, no. 4) Definitely. There is a class of magical law around molestation of a Familiar.
freespace2dotcom
Anything you smash with your boot is an insect imo, despite modern classification. Legate, Even if used ruined Volauge is not useful for raising ships anymore, can scraps of it still be useful for things like making bows or book planks? Or does the wood lose all of its magical properties if tampered with too much?
Schwarzbart
Because the player used some Volauge scraps as new core for the wand of Ana I suspect it's difficult for it to complete lose its magical properties,
