Legate of Mineta
That's what happens when mighty heroes battle! They get...stickied.
Legate of Mineta
A thought just occurred to me: do you think it would be useful/helpful if we created a video to explain combat? Do you think it would be a good thing?
swang
Complete with a buxom-Betty in chainmail? that' be awesome!
Legate of Mineta
Hahaha! I don't know if we can rustle *her* up.
Adrian
LOL I'd love to see Betty make an appearance Whether a video is a good idea.. .. Sure, unless it takes time that you require elsewhere. (Isn't it always?!) But some people learn by reading, others by hearing or watching and some by doing. Your main group will likely be reading, but I can't imagine a video being a bad idea.
Legate of Mineta
Adrian; We were thinking it could be helpful in visually showing the steps. Combat is actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it...but you have to overcome the learning curve first. Maybe it's easier with a video? Not sure. Adrian
I'm not sure either, and it isn't difficult once you've gotten the hang of it, faster even if you take the time to write down the items you are using That said, learning the combat is an important part of the game. Having a video, even if it only aid.. 5% or so, would be nice. I'm all in favor of a video, but whether there is time to spare to make it is not for me to say.... That said we might be able to throw together a fan video, I've never tried such things before, but maybe someone else? (If you've made videos for youtube before and want (relatively..) easy kudos points then here you are! and opportunity has presented itself)
Legate of Mineta
Adrian; Heh! Well, we'll ponder over the weekend. It's not too hard to make a video...but then, how good the quality will be...
Adrian
Well, a fan made video can be of varying quality as well
Legate of Mineta
Well, true.
Schwarzbart
I think the combat Sequence in the rules should special mention when we can us a Boon
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; Good idea- you can use a Boon at any time, but it's a good idea to state that.
Schwarzbart
Buckler Shield gives +1 Attack at maneuver what effect do this have? Also I'm wondering what advance Buckler Shield have compared to Thumper (Left) at last if you have a good 1H weapon? To me Halefist Sword + Thumber (left) sounds bether then Halefist Sword + Buckler Shield The first give you Prevent for 2 rounds in gambit and the second give you guard 2 at defense but at last I wouldn't give up +1 Ini and 2 dmg for prefenting 2 DMG unless some very rare circumstance. Other interesting thing is that the great Halefist Sword only cost 8 silver while the Halfist Dagger and Foe-Cutting Blade are weaker but cost 1 or 2 Gold
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; I believe +1 Attack is meant to be +1 Damage. I'll double check. I'll get the Team to look at those weapons, too- it may be that the Halefist Dagger and the Foe-Cutting Blade are meant to be more powerful (or the Halefist Sword less so)- we'll see. Thanks! Schwarzbart
Please also have a look if Shield is realy meant to be used to give you just extra options or direct add its stats to the primary weapon.
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; That I can answer immediately: it is intended to give you extra options in Combat. It is not additive.
hawkfangor
I was having trouble reading the combat table, so I made a slightly cleaner version for myself, but I thought I'd go ahead and share it with anyone else who is also having issues. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7XGoLidvKndVzJMeVlJUldsMWM/edit?usp=sharing
CremePudding
Thanks! Makes for a nice alternative.
Legate of Mineta
And very Lone Wolf-y! Good stuff.
Schwarzbart
Wow didn't even see that people with weak Skill (11 or 12) might have 40 or 50% chance for a claw effect right at the start of some Act II fights as you already encounter Skill 22 oponents there. I think thats just to much punishment for a single bad roll right at the start of the game. Maybe reduce the variance of the player skill to 12+1d8 or 12+2d4. Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; Low Skill can be very difficult to succeed with, it's considered kind of a 'challenge mode' in the Team. Character creation probably should favor higher Skills, though, it's a really important point.
Schwarzbart
Thats why I suggested to use a lower dice while still keep the uper limit of 20 for a starting char. You can give the option then to play a Skill 11 or 12 char for a special challenge.
Legate of Mineta
Yeah, it's a pretty good suggestion- I think we'll probably adopt it, too.
hawkfangor
And very Lone Wolf-y! Good stuff. I have no idea what this means! But thanks!
Legate of Mineta
hawkfangor; Haha! It just reminded me of the Lone Wolf combat table, if you've ever seen it.
