  1. By that, you mean she's from the actual Canary Islands? Then she's speaking the canarian dialect, I guess... Before, when I was giving some more thought to it, and attempting to make Google's text-to-speech sound like that, my guess was it might be someone speaking the andaluz dialect(up to this point, I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as a canarian dialect) Given what the wiki says, it seems I wasn't too off the mark, all things considered. Either way, neither of them is "standard" Spanish, and definitely NOT the way you'd expect an aristocrat to speak. Regarding Google's text-to-speech, if you want to try for yourselves, here are the lines: These are the lines in "standard" Spanish: Que alguien eche un vistazo al sónar! Sencillamente, me niego a perder esta batalla. And here is what I used to make it sound like Canarias' lines: Quelguien eche un vistaso el sónar! Sensiamente, me niego a perde esta bataia. You can paste them on Google translate and compare.
  2. I cannot really say about the others, but I can assure the lines spoken by Canarias are definitely not from a native speaker.

    KS Update 144

While not exactly relevant to the update itself, when I looked up USS Panay, I also found the actual island of Panay, and with it I found something rather uncanny. This is the island of Panay: Now, compare its general shape to... this: Coincidence? I THINK NOT SO!!!!

    KS Update 140

Also, the spear is too short, and the sword is laughably small(but don't tell her I said that) I'd say that's likely a deliberate decision by the artist, so those elements don't clog up too much of the picture. So... anyone got any idea who that [Redacted] is? If we're gonna go just on namesakes, I say HMS Hector and this other one have some solid chances(?) The former even being part of the Royal Navy too. If it's something related to the history of the ships themselves then...

    KS Update 137

Did anyone notice she's the first submarine whose art actually has underwater lighting effects?

    Update 136

I'd have to say 2. I believe someone needs to be the one sane man here.
  7. You can argue out of it(if you so desire) by pointing that she's not exactly dressed as "Sinterklaas" (and considering what she's actually wearing, I'd hesitate to say she is "dressed" at all) Biggest argument being the "Santa" hat instead of a Mitre, among others.

    KS Update 123

While that's true, one must avoid naming their daughter(or son, or anyone) its variant "Hansel". It is a name that is known to cause much confusion.

    KS Update 123

You say this election was rigged like that's something weird... Aren't elections ALWAYS rigged?
  10. So... I must say I'm glad Velasco finally got to say a few lines... I will add... Kaga and Nenohi's lines when being sunk/taking critical damage(being defeated, anyway) don't sound all that convincing... Henley sounds WAY more distressed when talking about soggy sandwiches than those two after what in theory(?) should be a rather painful experience.
  11. BTW, I add Leningrad to my voting.
  12. I think the "middle" option would be to have the belles appear *behind* the overlay, so they don't obscure information, rather than disabling it altogether. I agree with Pac in that subtitles would be very welcome. That being said... it'd also mean having to translate each line(and it seems there'll be a ton of them) for EVERY language the game will be in.
  13. Wait, it's actually possible to "play" music on a Kazoo? I always thought it just makes your voice sound weird. *dodges rocks*
  14. I see the test run of the new torpedoes was successful.
  15. Soo... This update, when a certain game also involving one protagonist, a bunch of girls and poetry just happened to release this very week one year ago. Small bonus for there being also tea, and the one handling the tea also happens to handle knives(if Leningrad's character art is anything to go by). It might or might not be just a coincidence.
  16. No inflatable wine bottle...
  17. Half a gill of it, mixed with one gill of water per day, to be precise.
  18. I vote 3. About the weather thing... You'd think a Carrier Belle's planes should be able to fly even in very adverse conditions. Or are they no better than regular planes? I'm sure this must have been addressed already somewhere...
  19. Rule #1 of the Closed Beta: You do not talk about the Closed Beta.
  20. If so, there should also be a restricted zone in the forums only for beta testers(and staff, duh), so they can at least discuss the closed beta among themselves, as well as providing feedback.
  21. And what if, when already beyond those limits, the boat sinks? Can she magically get back to "her ship"?
  22. While this statement is true, I always assumed it was something they could only do when on board their own ship. Like, melding into themselves, if that makes any sense. But if they were to walk over to somewhere else, be it a different ship, or onto land, they couldn't "un-manifest" until they return.
  23. When I first saw the title "On Sleeping Belles", I actually thought it would be about literally "sleeping Belles". Like in, Belles, sleeping. Instantly I realized how silly such a thing would be, and was not surprised to see they really meant "non-awakened Belles" When they say that "Every ship has a Belle", do they mean EVERY ship? Like, even a shabby rowboat, for example? (when does something start counting as a "ship" anyway)
  24. I thought there were huge restrictions regarding alcohol on warships. But do those restrictions apply to the warships themselves? Probably not. Maybe they should?
