  1. Ah! Found it. Silly me. Thanks as always.
  2. I'm really excited to play this, but I'm having some problems. I may be stupid, but I can't find a cache folder anywhere in my Academagia program file. I tried renaming content.mdm to content2.mdm, but still the new background isn't showing up. What am I doing wrong? Help?
  3. I'm always a no-reloader (after all, no do-overs in the real world), so I'll be interested to see other people who are playing it straight instead of powergaming. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    Who are you?

Great topic. I'm on my fifth character now (some games are completed, others are in various stages). My first game, I took an approach similar to yours: my character resembled me in some ways, and throughout the game developed haphazardly, because I had no idea what I was doing. After that, I always went into the game with a goal about who my character was and what was important to her: A free spirit who focused on botany and zoology (kind of an earth mother type character) A glib, smooth talking glamor caster An idealistic musician and artist with a talent for calligraphy The tough, dedicated military school girl with a love for athletics and battle history...If not much real battle experience herself. I've got other ideas for more characters, too: a straight "academic" student--very little magic, strong focus on research, a bully type, a social butterfly...I like to explore one area in depth before moving on. Luckily, there's plenty of opportunities for that.

    Favor Problem

Ahh. Makes sense. Thanks for your attention, as always.

    Favor Problem

After working long and hard at limning, I finally got my relationship with Professor Ruprecht up to 10. I decided to cash that relationship in with a favor. I failed at calling in the favor, which is okay, except...it made my relationship go back to zero. Is this intentional? If so, it seems fairly harsh that one bad roll (what is the roll for favor, anyway? Why would I fail?) would erase all of the good will I had built up. Couldn't it just go down a point or two?
  7. This patch looks amazing, thanks so much. I'd just like to ask for a general overview of what's going to be in the code patch. I know you don't know everything that'll make it in, but I'd rather not start a new game tonight if I'll be missing out on some really handy fixes. Thanks again. EDIT: Whoops, found the handy dandy thread with just the information I was looking for. Nevermind!
  8. Hi everybody. I go by Clio on the interwebs. I'm a 23 year old who works in the communications industry in the great state of Indiana. I found this game through Gamezebo one night when I was sick and pathetic and needed a little cheering up. Academagia certainly helped in that regard. I loved seeing that the "Song of the Lioness" quartet was one of the inspirations for this game, since Tamora Pierce was one of my favorite authors growing up. Now we just need color coded magic like they have in Tortall...Year 2?
  9. Fhoenix, I think this is a great idea. It's a much more elegant elaboration on my original idea, and addresses a lot of folks' concerns. With all this said, I don't think that the character creation is a huge problem and should be the designer's number one priority, but it is one of the more interesting parts of the game, and fun to think about its different applications.
  10. What I would love is one point for each category. So instead of getting 10 points total to mix and match however you'd like, give five points for stat allocation, and then you get to choose one astrological sign, one childhood adventure, etc. Each point must be used for that particular grouping and couldn't be applied elsewhere. The logic is that everyone has, for example, an astrological sign, everyone has had exploits, everyone has had some sort of education/work experience/trade training. I realize that this might seem unbalanced, and may require some rejiggering a few skills, but from a role-playing perspective, it seems to make more sense to me. Your mileage may vary.
  11. Regardless, you guys work hard and have put out a hugely ambitious game and offer amazing customer service. You deserve a pat on the back every now and then.
  12. Awesome, you guys are great. Thanks for all your hard work.
  13. Hi, I'm really loving the game, but one glitch is hampering my enjoyment. I've installed patches 1 and 1a, which allowed me to scroll on the skills screen, etc., but the "scroll down" button is still not working on the locations menu. I use a laptop with no mouse, and the touchpad scroll feature does not work. I would really like to be able to use locations below "Archery Field," and would appreciate any advice.
