The big kiss

I haven't actually played the adventures with either Joana or Philippe (for some reasons both of them usually end up bullying me... :) ), and this event might be more appropriate in the second year, but I grew kind of fond of the event so I thought I'd share it.

The big kiss

You just experienced the thrill of a first kiss!

The thrill, the mood, the eyes that look... rather unfocused, if you should say so yourself.

You cast another glance at Philippe Marcant who just fell to the floor like a rag doll with Joana looking positively horrified.

A few seconds prior you saw Joana corner Philippe in the hallway and planted a kiss on his lips. Admittedly it looked kind of one-sided and in less than 3 seconds he underwent an astonishing transformation. From shock to a sort of sleepy-dullness to... well falling asleep – in the very real sense of the phrase.

Joana points at you and any thoughts you might have had of sneaking out just became a thing of the past.

“You have GOT to help me”

You look from Joana to the sleeping form of Philippe – what to do?

Exit1: no roll: The whole thing doesn't affect you. Surely she would realize that.

Exit1: Success: Surely Joana would be reasonable if you just declined. Right? RIGHT?!

You swiftly turn for the easiest fastest way out of the immediate area, yelling to Joana that you had forgotten to knit your parents a scarf for their birthday. Not only does she look unimpressed (and rather angry) with your clearly fake excuse you also run into @Random Teacher@.

Investigation1: Insight/Scent detection: Does something smell odd?

Investigation1: Success: You take a sniff, and then another. Something is definitely odd here.

It smells almost like the leaves used in that sleeping potion you made some weeks back.

Open Exit5.

Temporarily bonus to persuasion.

Temporarily bonus to brew.

Investigation1: Fail: You don't smell anything out of the ordinary, this is a hallway after all not a florist shop.

Exit2: Charm/Persuasion: Convince Joana to explain what is going on and then act on it.

Exit2: Success: Joana admits that she added some of the sleeping potion to her lips before she gathered her courage to kiss him. She just never expected it to be so strong!

You gather your thoughts and quickly get an idea. Matain Leith also said that he kept a few bottles of antidote – because some students always found it funny to poison drinks and what not.

You explain to Joana that you will be right back and shoot off as a lightning to Matain's classroom. Thankfully he is there and quickly produces the antidote.

When Philippe wakes he doesn't remember anything, something Joana looks very pleased with.

Joana helps Philippe up and as the three of you split up Joana sends you a quick smile.

Exit2: Fail: Joana looks about to tell you but then the moment drags on, and on, and on. You are about to speak again when she shakes her head. “I won't tell you” she says, “You'll just sell me out!”

You grudgingly help Philippe into a sitting position and walk on your way. Hmph, can't expect more after that kind of treatment!

Exit3: Finesse/Archery: You can't help your smile but this is a wonderful idea!

Exit3: Success: You remember that there was to be an archery competition, and they you were of cause planning to go.

“How does this help Philippe?” she rightfully ask.

“Think about it!” you reply and continue explaining the idea.

Everyone would think it was a VERY cool of Philippe to volunteer to be the poor sod who holds the apple on his head.

“But what if people miss?!” She counters, you calm her, explaining that he would only act as such for you – cool doesn't mean stupid after all.

The hows and whys are lost in the excitement as you enter the competition and hit the apple perfectly. Fortunately Philippe wakes not long after as people start to gather about him in awe.

He looks a bit lost but quickly starts soaking up the praise of his bravery.

The hows and whys are lost in the excitement as you enter the competition, but as you stand there with that nasty red apple staring back at you at the end of the range you suddenly start worring. What if you miss? What if!

The better question might have been 'What if he woke while you were worrying?' because that is what has happened. At the end of the range Philippe has thrown the apple away and is leaving the grounds in a fit of rage. You feel rather sure that he saw you at the opposite side of the range.

Exit4: Finesse/Planning: Right, you need a plan and you need it now. Think!

Exit4: Success: You remember a secret passage way nearby that would serve as a perfect place to hide the body, ergh, hide Philippe. One thing leads to the next and a simply brilliant plan forms in your head.

You need a few chickens, a feather duster, a hammer (not too big) and an old beaten coat.

You send Joana off for the ingredients while you take a sip of the orange juice that you had been so clever to take along. In the mean time Philippe wakes up and the two of you enjoy the juice. Oddly he doesn't remember anything, and you are not about to say anything.

Joana returns a while later, profoundly out of breath and looks ready to kill you.

You carefully explain that you didn't just send her on a wild goose chase but that it all had a purpose. You just can't say what.

Exit4: Fail: Right! Calm down. This can work, right?

You can actually feel your brain moving the vast amounts of data needed to formulate a great plan, but you can also see Joana's face doubting you more and more.

“So?” she demands “Do you have any clever ideas or do you want me to carry him by myself?!”

Your most clever plan is ruined! Ruined!

You let out a sigh and help carry Philippe towards his dorm.

Sadly for you, though perhaps not Philippe, you run into Matain Leith a bit down the hall. He instantly recognizes the case and whips out an antidote from his coat.

Philippe recovers quickly though he has forgotten the whole thing. Matain sends Philippe off the the nurse and then turns to you. To your surprise Joana managed to slip away while you weren't looking.

“I will be seeing you later!”

+Detention with Matain Leith.

Exit5: Insight/Brew: You recognize the smell and you are only a step away from an antidote.

Exit5: Success: Fortunately the laboratory isn't far away. You find a forgotten alchemist-guide and put yourself to the task.

The potion bubbles merrily and you almost forget that Philippe needs it in the process. Potion brewing is a great pastime after all.

As it is finished you carefully put everything back to normal and run off to save Philippe.

You hand Joana the antidote who quickly administers it to the still sleeping Philippe.

You hear a person clapping behind you and startled you look back, only to find Matain Leith standing there, giving the two of you an applause.

“Good teamwork and though it was from a distance I noted that you made the potion perfectly @CharacterName@.” You feel your cheeks warm from the praise.

“You really should fetch a teacher next time though” he finishes, almost to keep you from feeling too good about the whole thing. As he checks Philippe's condition – purely formalities he assures you – he also asks how he got poisoned in the first place. Joana and you share a quick look and then she tells him that you found him like that.

Leith smiles and leaves the two of you to help Philippe up. From what Leith implied you just added some merit to your collage! Excellent!

You are about to add the last ingredient when Matain Leith steps out of his hiding place.

“If you add that the potion will be unstable! Now think, what did you learn last time you were here?!” He demands, and it makes you VERY nervous.

You try to think back but it isn't working, why isn't it working?! There were something about adding more water if you wanted to dilute the potion. Do you want to dilute the potion?... maybe?

Without looking at Matain Leith you quickly grab a glass and pour water into it. You even ignore him as he starts yelling up about something. You quickly add the water and wait.

Leith quickly grabs the potion and throws it into the sink.

“3 Merit points worth of potion just got ruined, pay attention next time!”

You explain what you were trying to do and Leith hands you an antidote.

You quickly go and cure Philippe but you are not sure if you ever want to follow recipes in random alchemical-guides ever again!

Adrian;

Bahahaha:

"You cast another glance at Philippe Marcant who just fell to the floor like a rag doll with Joana looking positively horrified."

...this is great stuff. Poor Philippe and Joana- the legendary couple. :)

They aren't the only Students predisposed to bullying, but they do seem to get their share of recognition for it. :)
