Adrian
Made more in fun than anything. We've all been playing with the idea to bring about the end of days right? Why not make it a little more official? Child of Change There are many decent, or at the very least halfway decent ways to put this, but to tell the truth you are the object of reverence for a doomsday cult. Sure it isn't a HUGE cult, but somehow it did manage to get you into the Academagia, so they can't be all bad. Of cause having a cult declaring that you are going to bring the world in ruin puts a bit of strain on everyone (increase minimum stress by one) but on the bright side you have really gotten good at hiding, lying and making children cry. (Resulting in a +1 to your Hide, lie, and a +2 to intimidation) The long races to outrun the cult members have also granted you a bonus to your fitness (by 1) and your quick thinking (whenever someone asked about the two robed guys who insisted to follow you everywhere) grants you 1 intelligence. That said, you are not the object of polite conversation, and many find it somewhat unnerving to speak to you knowing that there are some hooded guy taking down notes in case you should impart some final words of wisdom. (resulting in 3 people starting off with a -2 relationship) Due to the hope that you will one day bring and end to the world the cult have also reveled to you how to continue the study of gates (informing you of all gate related skills) – sadly they were none too quiet about it and thus your chance of discovery (CoD) was increased (by 2%). Costs 1 background point.
Legate of Mineta
Haha! This one is pretty awesome!
Leoshi
Don't you think that the chance of discovery (Cod, Haha) should be slightly higher? Say 5% maybe? After all, hooded people following you around should not be easy to miss. Unless of course they wear everyday robes.
CremePudding
It can't be that good a deal if you can't command them like a god unto mortals Els: Ugh, @playername@! Will you please command your lowly worshipers to go away!? You: Sorry, I have no control over them >.< Els: You useless, no good excuse for a doomsday child! And YOU THERE! You worthless, *<3WTFLOLNOOBNUBZ*$N$^^A>V<CE cultists ......... And so the dinky cult decided to worship Els while you are proclaimed to be a false destroyer and promptly assassinated on that infirmary time slot:(
Draigh
Worshippers can be rather fanatical about leaving their Chosen One. After all, they want to witness every miracle he does and every word of wisdom he says. Just because they worship you, doesn't make them obey you. For real life examples, look at pretty much any religion and their followers. They rarely follow all the rules of their religion all the time. Especially if they feel they have good reasons not to do so. (note: there is still a difference between religion and faith. One can be religious but faithless, and faithful but not following religious doctrine.)
alurianknight
If your going to do an end of the world thing then you have to include the question of whether or not its an actual destruction of the world or simply the end of the world as its known
Exfides
If your going to do an end of the world thing then you have to include the question of whether or not its an actual destruction of the world or simply the end of the world as its known My reading of this background is that, at least for the time-frame of your character's academic career, it doesn't matter if your character really will eventually somehow bring about "the end of the world as we know it" or not. If this cult helped get the character into Academagia, it's quite possible they are preparing you for your future "destiny" that will not be fulfilled any time soon. Presently, all that is going on is a small but dedicated cult is trying to shape your character's life, regardless of how accurate their prophecy is or how your character feels about it. Adrian
Would be what I was going for yes, but as for the question, I'd say you shouldn't do a half-arsed job when you start something - even if that is world destruction. No last minute second thoughts or pocketbook philosophy. We will be ending the world the only know we know how, fire baby! *cough* right well yes... *corrects tie* Who knew that a 0.1% chance of critically going insane would ever actually happen... (the extra background point was worth it though!)
CremePudding
This probably will warrant an adventure in the future to stop / appease / dominate the cults to save your personal life
Exfides
This probably will warrant an adventure in the future to stop / appease / dominate the cults to save your personal life Good idea CremePudding, but I would think your character would need to grow significantly, both in power as well as general maturity, for such a drastic challenge to such a determined group trying to control your life. I'd put this sort of adventure(s) at no earlier than Year 3, possibly Year 4.
