Schwarzbart
Orthography is part of the Artifice sub-skills and yes Orthography works different then setting a palette within a item.
Legate of Mineta
Dreamweaver; As Schwarzbart notes, it does work differently than Enchantment, but is still regarded as 'Enchantment'. The long term focus of Aranaz is indeed Orthography, and although it is more niche than Enchantment proper, its enchanted items are widely used amongst mages, merchants and the nobility. Dreamweaver
Orthography is part of the Artifice sub-skills and yes Orthography works different then setting a palette within a item. I thought Orthography belonged with Calligraphy? That'll change in year 2?
Legate of Mineta
Dreamweaver; No, Orthography is indeed a sub set of Calligraphy. In game it is considered to be a sub-set of Enchanting at its core, but the technique is actually very different, so it has a different Parent. Schwarzbart
"This college once championed the art and science of Orthography, but the Praetexta council folded this discipline into Astrology and Artifice" Because Artifice is thought in Vernin and Astrology in Avila the College Aranza lost its focus. Doesn't this stand in opposite to what you just written Legate?

Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; It's a little complicated. Artifice comes into play for the same reasons it does in Enchantment- how you create things matter for imbuing magic. Astrology comes into play because a popular usage of Orthography was as a means to communicate with the New Gods. Edit: Glamour, too is involved, especially in moving paintings. Essentially, Orthography was torn to bits.
freespace2dotcom
It sounds kind of like... It's an OMNI discipline that has a bit from everything...?
Schwarzbart
Because at last one book we can get in year 1 hint that Artifice becomes a class in a later year I thought that Orthography will also become a SS of this new skill. Especial given that you already confirmed that some SS will change to different skills or maybe even be part of different skills.
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; You will certainly see some gravitation towards Artifice, yes, but it probably won't be formal in the curriculum. Von Rupprecht, you know.
freespace2dotcom
Yeah, Schwarzbart, Just like how I doubt that the inks subskill will ever find its way into the brew parent skill. And legate, your silence on my comment is noted.
