Tell me, now. How deadly was that snowball? Did the roll double twice or something?

Well, CJ rolled a 1, so double, then other 1, so triple, then another 1, so quadruple, then rolled a 10.

So 10 double to 20, 20 double to 40, 40 double to 80.

Roll total is 80, the number that end game char can barely reach and with the damage that can knock down pretty much any arch demon and arch angel of the highest order.

Session 10 Summary. full version here.

"Calpurnia's 10's at Devil's Chimney."

Since the lovable black cat was not present, I post a summary until a more proper transcript of the adventure can be posted. :)

We landed in a wooded area not too far from Gloucester. Makara walks off babbling about being in the right place... But we more or less ignore that and let Class follow Makara.

Meanwhile the party decides to camp at a cave up in the middle of nowhere. Edith Becomes a human again, but retains some mousy attributes. All the mages fail to notice anything odd save for a magical aura.

We settle for the night, and Then it happens. (dum dum dum....)

You see, it turns out that the cave is known as the Devil's Chimney and is known in local lore as a place where diabolists sell souls of unwitting passers-by.

Gustbran, having first watch, notices and yells at an alleged bandit who quickly runs away. Demons then attempt to possess those sleeping in the cave and Calpurnia Makes the botch of the century. Her eyes glow red and nearly eats the poor bugger! Baruch also takes a bite out of Sila's leg before waking up! Then they race off to stop the bandit.

After that fiasco is over, and Calpurnia is brought to her senses... Gustbran notices Helpax just before he was about to get kidnapped. Baruch is over in time to save the day. We then walk to town and visit an expy of CJ's house where Makara is. :) But not before Calpurnia eats a mouse!

We then are discussing what to do. And stop for the session.

Gustbran the Grog survives a second session :)

Dear lord, please forgive what Makara has done.

Log Eleven: The Costs of Secret

Summery:

Everyone is staying at Chretien's cottage after barely escaped the Devil's Chimney from last session and is suddenly visited by two grogs from Blackthorn knocking hard at the door in the morning. Most of us stay out of first floor and listen in to what they want, which actually just two guy delivering news and letter, passing some letters to relevant people and Chretien the red cap to pass it to other on his way. Ramon got a letter he need to hands to Ungulus Covenant and a letter for us to bring to our home covenant's boss Antonius.

Apparently, Iudicium (the guy that got stabbed) don't know the name of the grog that stab him (Gustbran), and is offering a longativity ritual to anyone that bring him alive to him for interrogation and torture. He also want all the mages he sees around to report to him for trial, which we later know in the letter, he want Makara and Baruch. Suspecting Julias of Voluntas schemed all these dragon rising and attempt assasination, the Blackthorn is in the process of declaring Wizard War on Voluntas.

As everyone is planning to leave, Hansine, one of the house cat talk to Makara, asking for the 5+ days old dried fish pulp in his hood. Makara refuse stating it's of great importance to humanity as a whole, but the damn cat is such a fine connoisseur of dried fish pulp and offer a secret that makes the curious Makara decide to make a bargain with the cat and give up half of humanity for this info ("Two heads are worse than one").

Around a hundred years later, the bacteria in the cat poo from the rotten fish pulp has evolved to such advance stage that caused a global calamity all over Europe commonly known now as the Black Plague, half of the human population is death as the result of this.

After sizing up the Pegasus and casting the cloud illusion, we ride it back to our City of Ivory & Jade safely. There we report most of the thing to our boss Antonius, read the mail with similar content as above. Makara is now in charge of Edith and Gustbran need a bath for now, the boss don't have time to deal with all these because the city is getting attacked and the prophecies said this city going to sunk when Europe is destroyed!!

Inventory Change: Dried Fish Pulp ---> Dried Fish Pulp ( Half )

After we finished, I slept for 6 hours or so, woke up for about 1, just long enough to eat something, and then slept for another 14. Almost a whole day gone by! I feel like a million bucks, though!

Nice chapter of how a cool a lab inside a tower is.

Log Twelve: The Legacy of Goricious

Pretty much the whole team decide to help out Calpurnia to clear out her soon-to-be new lab, as we were admiring the tower internal design, we heard glass breaking noise from the lab, and we rushed to check it out. We found a girl name Amaranth (player companion) that said she is from House Tremere and she was teleported here accidentally. We are quiet suspicious since there seems to be some weird things going on at the background rolling like demon lord making a roll, dragon making a roll, and Calpurnia anti devil spell didn't work or something.

Calpurnia had enough of this BS and ask Amaranth and Makara (who is currently jumping to reach the stars on the ceiling) to get out, which they do, except Makara stayed in the tower hoping Calpurnia would let him play with the stars more.

On the way, we meet Taitale (player companion), who is a math guy that worked out that the city will flip upside down in a few hours, and anyone not indoor will fall to their death! We took these two new faces to our bipolar boss, Antonius. Our boss threaten to throw Taitale and his family off the city if Taitale prediction failed, and will throw Amaranth too if no one will vouch for Amaranth to stay in the city. Baruch eventually vouched for him, but for now, he's busy casting a storm to make people stay indoor since not everyone understand Latin and the loud voice spell ended up causing a little panic in the city.

Meanwhile some of our member were assaulted by thugs, we are dealing welly against them especially our new One Spear Pony Gustbran open a hole to the gut again. Corbenik (Calpurnia's Companion) is a passing by knight or something who joined in to help us out against the thugs and we manage to emerge unharmed, but Baruch was ultimately distracted and BOTCHED his concentration on the stormy weather spell, which cause a powerful hurricane to slam against the Tower of Flaming Passion, which is what Calpurnia and Makara is in. They are eventually safe and the messed up storm hurricane seems to realign the city from flipping for a while, Taitale is now in trouble because his prediction is prevented from coming true.

Thankfully, we manage to barely convince (with confidence) our bipolar boss that is the case, which he laugh happily acknowledging the strangeness of the incident. For now, we have brought ourselves sometime to figure out what to do for the rest of the winter and a free season in spring.

Some downtime events, lots of fighting and Makara's other char are revealed.

Log Thirteen: What happened in SPRING 1215

Event One: The Cloud That Dodged

Everyone is minding their own business when our covenant alarm (Chimes in the Temple make with gilded bones of the ancient Kings) sounded and we saw on a sky that there's a weird cloud that's moving away from the covenant, but it's more like dodging it.

Grogs are manning the ballista while we all gather at The Emerald Tower, Baruch powerful spell seems to not work on the cloud and Ramon ride his Pegasus to check out the church size cloud. The cloud then shoot a fireball at Ramon group, which they dodge speedily. Baruch manage to figure out it's an illusion, there seems to be some mage in there and looks like dwarf with wand, which Silas promptly make it sleep with a spell after Baruch blow the enemy ship off balance with his powerful wind.

Since the shot from the ballista failed to hit the cloud, Makara enchant the next javelin to be mirror-like with illusion to make it harder to spot, but sadly the enemy barely manage to dodge it. We also realize how crappy our crossbow grog are. In the meantime, Fishy, Makara's magical flying fish familiar come to watch with the group.

Ramon manage to stab one of the mage with his spear and suddenly the ship vanished, presumably a Leap of Homecoming spell is activated when the mage is in great danger. Later on, we goes to a emergency meeting with our bipolar boss, Antonius, whom is suspicious of the Tremere ambassador, Amaranth, of involvement, which she offer to fix up an arcane connection using the blood on the spear to prove her innocent.

Event Two: High Class French Fries

Our Covenant flies it's random yet specific path and seems to circling Paris, the Capital of France. Half of the player got to go so it's only Makara, Silas, Corbenik, Gustbran, and Ramon, three mundane, one normal gift and one gentle gift.

We landed some distance away from the city and got into the city after paying the toll to some gate lady and she recommend us to stay at the inn her cousin opens, which we later realize it's in the red light district and so we rolled folk ken to find the most expensive inn in town.

The french innkeeper really looks down at magus, he even turned a group away not too long ago because they don't like the food that's pretty weird for the non-high class, but the inn service is excellence, Troubadour play music while you eat, maid to serve you, Stuffed Peacock dinner...

Only Makara decide to go to another inn a block away that the innkeeper mentions a guest was assaulted in the night with a stick of celery, which sounds like his kind of place. There his companion contacted him and joined him.

The others at the high class inn are enjoying their meal when all sort of things goes wrong, food smell rotten, wall become dirty, people puking, vomiting all over the inn while Makara is contacted by his new companion who inform him that the apprentices from before has come back to prank the innkeeper, and Makara decide to go to sleep instead and sees a dream of people being exiled and killed by the crusade

After dispelling the illusion, Gustbran group proceed to grab those apprentices outside and beat them up badly. Gustbran punched with his fist so hard that one student is near death, so one is dying, one Corbenik has grappled, and one is on the floor bleeding. They surrender.

Gustbran tries to use Chirurgery to heal the dying guy, but he Botched, somehow choked the poor sap to death instead. Makara's companion decide to wake him up and they finally arrive at the scene too late. We bring them into the inn, address the wounded, and a few questioning later, the apprentice say they are:

-The grappled student is Augustus apprentice of Jerbiton, and Damocles the Terrible is his parens

-The bleeding student that is now recovering is Basil Diogenes of the House Jerbiton, Apprentice to Laura of Venetia.

-The dead student was Larick of Jerbiton, apprentice to a maga of Hibernia

Log 14 will be known as the "boat rescue gaiden" regardless of what it's called. :)

[09:26] <Baruch> Aiden, there are two people you don't know standing by your chicken coop with a huge monster chicken, except there's no chicken coop, there's just a hill

[09:26] <Baruch> What do you all do?

I think I will keep the dice number from now on.

Log Fourteen: Boat Rescue Gaiden

Going back a bit to the Late Winter of 1214 since that's where our flying covenant are closest for the retrieval of our flying boat that we abandoned near the waterfall.

Not all members participate in this mission since they are busy, so only Makara, Ramon, Gustbran, and Silas us here to grab the boat home. We have a short briefing from our boss Antonius and Makara's paren Helena with the task of getting our enchanted flying boat back and instructed us all how to make the boat fly.

The team then immediately ride the enlarged Pegusus with clouded illusion on the enlarged saddle down to the waterfall where the boat is abandoned. We spotted another drake on our way, but the cloud illusion works as always. Upon arriving at the place, we notice that the boat is gone and trace of the water and footprint shows that someone has taken our boat not too long ago! Our combine tracking skill manage to lead up to a hut over the hill and we dig around the hut to find nothing, but we did hear a weird "gluck" noise while we search the hut, so we went out to approach the source.

A giant monster White Chicken jumped in front of us out of nowhere. Gustbran tries to stab it but the monster dodged it and Makara shoot a 10-inch rock at it into it's belly before he heard the nearby rooster is saying "I am William II of Epworth, lord of these lands. Why do you disturb us? Are you attacking my flock? Why are you here? Go away, or you shall incur the wrath of Gorgamoth, here!"

Makara immediately tell everyone to cease and deal with this diplomatically. Apparently the chicken lord and his flock found the boat and use it upside-down as a comfortable hen-house, which the lord reluctantly would trade for the healing of a certain injured hen in the house, and Makara sweeten the deal when the lord chicken express wishes to find a better place to live, so the chickens will live in our covenant soon along arrangement of good supplies of eggs for feed just like the previous caretaker that abandoned them, possibly from Libellas nearby.

Suddenly a loud bell rang from possibly Libellas, so Ramon go back to check his Pegasus, Silas goes to investigate the bell while Makara inspect the injured hen in the henhouse hidden inside the fake hill with an illusion. Makara found the hen's leg is twisted horribly and he doesn't have vis in hand to cast the ritual animal healing spell, so he spont a magic to ease the pain for now.

Meanwhile heading into the forest, Silas bump into a man and Silas let it go since the man seems to be in a real hurry. This man is Aiden, a fairy mage of the player Freespace. Emerging from the forest, Aiden sees "two people you don't know standing by your chicken coop with a huge monster chicken, except there's no chicken coop, there's just a hill".

Aiden ignore the weird scenery and rush back into his hut to grab his vis and Libellas' defense plan from his secret safe. We begins to hear loud noises of hounds pursuing something from the forest, Ramon just in time to came back while Makara and Gustbran flip the boat upright to board it. The hound is approaching, the chickens are scared and rushes onto the boat, and Silas accept Aiden's bribe of some vis to let him ride on his Pegasus. We fly off just in time and are now going home with our boat along with some interesting passengers.

Edit: Fixed.

Two Session of finishing up.

Log Fifteen: Boat Gaiden Part B

On the way home, the team have a long chat with the fairy mage Aiden and inquire how the state of the Stonehenge is, but they didn't get much information other than him coming from Nigrasaxsa, send to spy on Libellas but was found out, and dragon awakening is still a problem.

Silas offer Aiden to stay with them and he agrees, but Antonious are more suspicious of this spy, but are willing to let him stay under watch for now. Then Makara introduce the chicken king to Antonious and it's swiftly permitted as Antonious doesn't really care for small things like these.

As we were about to leave, a peasant came to ask for our help as a building has collapsed with children in it. The group work hard till evening to moves all the rubble out of the way with strength and careful coordinated magic to finally rescue the children.

Makara then proceed to fullfill his bargain by healing the injured chicken, but unfortunately he doesn't have the vis for the healing spell so he just accelerate the recovery and will take daily care of the hen until its recovery around the end of the year, the chicken king isn't happy for the arrangement, but Makara convince him that's the only available method.

Log Sixteen: High Class French Fries Part B

After the pranking at the high class Paris inn that gone horribly wrong with Gustbran accidentally heal-chock one of the student to dead, one of the student's mentor came to inquire about the situation. After telling him we are from the Covenant of Ivory & Jade, the mentor seems to be a bit scared and respectfully told us to leave him to deal with this mess. We all agree but decide to stay the night at another inn and leave next day morning.

Time flies by and it's now summer, the team was enjoying under the sunlight when the grog Edith mention her sister Anna, which is also part of the stolen crown prophecy thing, but she decided to ran off to join a monastery after convinced that a terrible curse would fall on the whole family when their dad dig the crown up.

Some of us decide to take Edith to reunited with her sister since the covenant is pretty close by to the destination. Upon reaching the nearby monastery-cottage, we were inform that she's at the convent at Borley, about eight miles from here, but since it's late at night, the group decide to stay at the barn for the night. Just as we were about to sleep, Brother Gui knocked the door and intrude to tell us that he fall in love for Anna and she is actually a prisoner at Borley nunnery! He beg us to rescue her and help him escape the church!

Let me tell you a tale of the worst rescue/kidnapping ever attempted

Log Seventeen: Visit Nunnery Part A

Brother Gui, the person that ask us to rescue Anna is now traveling with us toward the nunnery. We agree to check it out and rescue her if she really need to be rescued and not just Gui making things up. The complex plot are reexplained by Gui.

We reached the place pretty quickly with the flying boat in disguise and debated whether to wait till morning and send someone to ask her first, but since the nunnery only allow female to go in, we decide to at least scout the place first. Class flies in his owl form to check the top while Silas sneak around to check around, but he was spotted by armored guards. The guards are sure of mage infiltration after they saw some of their fellow felled asleep by Baruch's spell.

Log Eighteen: Visit Nunnery Part B

All the knight and horses are mighty scares of our mage and they all tries to run away comically. Baruch cast a powerful wind spell and maintaining it to blast the gate shut to prevent the other knights from leaving the manor. A few fight with the guard close by and the team rushes to the nunnery. The monastery's holy aura is really tough on spellcasting, so most of the team can't cast their spell here! The shouting is getting louder at the covenant, and Makara back at the boat hidden in the fog illusion in the forest nearby is ready to extract the team any time.

The team knock on the door to ask for entrance, but the Mother Superior tell them to get out because men is forbidden. Someone decide to cast a spell to make her confuse since we are too weak to cast any strong spell.

Meanwhile, Baruch stop his spell and get back to the boat except the fog is too big to find it and so he yell at Makara to get to the Covenant, which Makara then flies the boat back to the City of Ivory and Jade. Baruch face-palmed. Baruch manage to clarify in time and Makara turn back,

Using Edith as a excuse on the confused Mother to let them in, she opened the gate and let them in while singing a little song to herself.

Makara landed the boat on the roof of the nunnery. Botched. It crushed into the room below, now slowly sinking. Baruch immediately blow more knights away with his wind. Makara pets the hell out of the boat to rise up again. Gui setting up the carriage for escape. Silas tries to chat up with the running and yelling around nuns, Class keep sizing up into a giant owl on the sky, only the confused nun is confuse enough to bother answering the question about Arabella: she is locked in the cell under the store room!

The grogs are crawling against the Baruch wind, Amaranth is calming the nuns, Corbenik is pulling hard on the boat out of the thatch, Silas and Edith manage to Arabella out, but a veteran looking knight emerge from the door! Gustbran tries to stab it but the knight easily dodged his spear and countered, which gonna cause 8 points of damage to Gustbran, but Gustbran 6 point armor + 3 badass to soak it off.

Edith/Gui/Anna team rush toward the carriage horse and realize it's not fully harnessed, giant-owl Class swooping down to haul the boat up while everyone hanging on, lots of magic has been cast with fatigue, our mage pretty worn out, Gui/Anna team manage to get the carriage going by the horse is scared by the incoming giant owl and running down hill, which will lead to a crush.

Gustbran run to the carriage and jump onto the back. Class pick up the woman since it can only pick one person at a time at high speed, Gustbran tries to jump onto one of the horse for riding, but botched and entangle on the harness, he and the carriage crush into the watery grave. Gustbran and Gui is drowning but eventually rescued by Class.

After the successful kidnap and rescue, the team quickly flies back home.

Log Nineteen: German Market

The team is tasked to travel to Nuremberga to pick up a new Verditius mage that would be helpful in fixing our falling covenant problem. He name is Dirk and we manage to meet up with him in a herbal shop without much difficulties other than the moon on the morning sky suddenly got darken for a moment and Makara being Makara all over it.

Well, this is refreshingly short to summarize for once. Mostly due to team incompetence at basic preparedness and curiosity.

Log Twenty: Nuremberga Market

We go shopping while dirk pack his stuff. Gustbran brought superior quality spearhead while Baruch tries to find fairy herbs and gives up. Then we fly home with Dirk and Antonious ask our opinion about building a large enchantment lab for Dirk, we approve. Makara got approval to explore the catacomb. Can't wait to die in pitfall.

Log Twenty-One: Princess Ice, now Queen Ice

It was a normal spring season in the City of Ivory and Jade until it's plagued by an epidemic that cause the the citizens in the city to rapidly infected with a unstopping hiccup follows by rigorous dancing and loud hooping. It doesn't take long before most of the city are having a festival-like group dancing in a drake like pattern. This is a worrisome development as all the mage available manage to figures out this is cause by a curse of some faeries, and our Taitale knows the cure is a certain moss that grew on a mountain that can cures this curse by applying on the patient's forehead as a paste.

With no better plan as even the boss Antonious is infected enough to tear off his robe to join the dance, Dirk cast a ward against wood fairies on the city while the group sets off on their flying boat to the nearby northern mountain of Scandinavia, home of rune wizard and viking. The group consist of Baruch the one-shot pony, Calpurnia the ice princess, Dirk the Verditius Mage, Aiden the faerie mage, and Momo the faerie king of cats.

We landed on top of the mountain, investigate the area with the following results:

- Baruch and Dirk almost fall off the cliff, well, Baruch did, but he can fly. Baruch later found some of the moss in the cave with a troll in it. The cave seems to have the power to shrink people down an inch.

- Momo playing and singing with a faerie fish.

- Calpurnia found a horn near a bush.

Dirk who stayed outside and Momo has both identify the horn as faerie and recently made, and Momo strongly urged Calpurnia to blow it because curiosity kills the cat Calpurnia. Under pressures and curiosity, Calpurnia decides to blow it while Baruch and Dirk ran away from the cave as the troll chasing them out. The troll respond was asking "what's the message? Where is my letter?"

Apparently, this is a post horn owned by the troll, kinda like his mailbox. Calpurnia wants to keep it so Momo try to negotiate, and the troll, fearful of the king of cats, happily and swiftly accept to trade Calpurnia for the horn. Calpurnia is reluctant to become the troll's personal post message girl but ultimately decide to accept the deal fully expecting some sort of way to get out of this soon... Oh yes, this troll that call her ugly and looks exactly like his troll Aunt Ingrid is not going to live long at all.

Note: It's against the hermetic law or something to kill the troll outright, so she is waiting for a chance to 'self-defense' or something.

Oh yes, she will also have her revenge on Momo and the others that's confuse by the weird deal.

Calpurnia turns very slowly at Group "I will have my revenge" tosses horn to the front of Momo and gets off boat and doesn't take the trolls hand

How will this faerie tales develop? Stay tune.

Edit: Calpurnia/troll tale part one resolved. They have a riddle contest. Calpurnia won mostly thanks to Enigmatic Wisdom and the troll now belongs to Calpurnia.
