Calpurnia/troll tale part one resolved. They have a riddle contest. Calpurnia won mostly thanks to Enigmatic Wisdom and the troll now belongs to Calpurnia.

Nyaa I think you got it wrong what Dirk did as he was never at the cave but instead identified the age of the horn.

Fixed.

Log Twenty-Two: A fish got into a bar fight

The team was invited by Taitale into the tavern in the hyperborean quarter near the plaza to discuss about some grog matters, no mage bothered to come of course. Brother Gui, Dirk, Bashir (new grog), and Fishy wondered in for the promise of free beer.

Only Fishy and Gui become very drunk from diving into the beer like it's water, Fishy even swim in it.

Taitale explain there's dangerous talk among the hyperborean grog and cult-like leaflets about Christian mage overtaking Apollo's way.

A drunk guy come over and say some drunk-talk, Gui agree and hug him. Fishy joins in. The man's friends seem to take Gui's hug for an assault, and stand up looking alarmed. A pub brawling happened, Fishy kicked some asses with its kisses along with Gustbran eventually appearance helps knocked down a couple.

Corbenik strong presence eventually stopped the rest and locks the drunk athlete in the guardhouse.

Follow up in this thread.

Log Twenty-Three: House Investigation

Dirk has asked us, and a guard grog, to take a look at the house of Libon, an amateur Apollonian priest who's gone missing. We gone to investigate the abandoned house that seems to be barricaded from the inside, and discover a slave boy of Libon is the current occupant of the house.

He doesn’t seem to know much about the disappearance and the house seems to be pretty normal beside the small shrine room for Apollo that can’t fit more than 20 people and the food storage room with lots of food supplies.

Apparently the boy is a really good liar that fooled the team and had secretly by was quickly discover to be signaling someone with a red cord from between the closed window at the backside of the building to tell him to not approach the building. Bashir recognize the man that the boy tries to signal and so does that man so it started running. Bashir gives chase and almost caught him when suddenly the man dissapieared in the middle of a crowd after some soft of singing.

The boy are arrested and sent for interrogation.

Log Twenty-Four: Cave Tunnel Investigation

The team are at the collapsed building from a few session ago where we saves the people. They had discovered a cave like entrance with stairs leading into the earth at the collapsed site. Makara, Claled (guard grog), and Momo are asked to help out in this investigation.

Searching inside the dark cave, the prelim layout of the cave seems to be an organized Y-shape tunnel with water tunnel system at the left fork and living area at the right of the fork.

A giant ceberus along with a few grogs is sighted by Bashir at one of the right room as he was scouting for the team when they heard some dog noise and Makara decided to mute his smell and noise with a spont. He manages to barely get away safely.

The team decided to take the left fork to check out the water area instead and they see a room with skeletons stacked in piles everywhere. There’s a pond in the larger room and there’s an opening connected to somewhere upon closer inspection. Brother Gui manage to encourage Fishy to scout it out and Fishy safely reach the other side after a brief swimming and pushed a boulder out of the way from inside the pond tunnel. It can’t see anything since there’s no light at the other room.

Everyone decided to swim through the pond after Fishy has safely return and ignore Makara other crazy idea of water sliding everyone through it with an attack spell. Everyone got stuck in the swimming and lots of pushing and saving as a result. They should have listened to the Criamon idea. As painful as it would sound.

Momo didn’t do too well with the water contact as cat hates unclean and cold water. He went berserk and scratch Gui on the arm upon emerging from the pond and run straight to the next few room. Luckily the giant Cerberus failed to smell the cat, but Momo stumble into a room with 4 people in it. They make alarmed sounds, and pick up spears.

Famous last word

<Momo> "... Meow?"

Log Twenty-Five: Mono and the Grey Men

Summery

Momo stalled for time by pretending to be a messenger of Apollo and tricked the group of rebel barely long enough that the team shows up to fight them. He used his power to turn two of the important character into a mouse, their leader Laibon the priest and Rahaf the captive woman.

Dirk casts The Earth Carbuncle spell and send the rebels slamming up the ceiling except the tough and heavy Abaad which manage to stand his ground. Makara cast the Spams of the Uncontrolled spell to make the grog's hand shake uncontrollable and drops his weapon, which Momo seem as a safe chance to attack, so he claw slash the grog, but miss.

Strange thing happened behind the scene as Momo landed, Abaad all of a sudden, starts wailing pitifully and falls to the ground, blood sloshes from within his armor in great waves, his voice trails off, and died.

Everyone is shocked by this including Momo, but he quickly pretend he does this and brag the heck out of it.

Unfortunately, Momo can't find the two escaped mouses and the team reached the room with the stone door that they can't open but the hyperborean text on the wall explain the history of this covenant, which is some Hyperborean magi doesn't want to join the Order and fled via this flying city. These magi stopped visiting the people eventually and a ghost of Abaris Air Traveler appeared to them and told them to leave the place, never speak to anyone of it, and destroy any evidence of its existence. He swore he would not let the city fall, and swore that he would exact vengeance on the Order. Then he retreated back through the door that the servants couldn't open

The door also seems to be protected by strong mental altering effect and everyone is affected enough to not wanting to even touch the door. Dirk discover a Hyperborean hymn written on the wall and he will try to study it later, but for now the group decide to leave the cave, which they did safely.

Log Twenty-Six: Search for the King's Jewel Part 1

Antonious is begin extraordinary nice. Too nice. He summoned Baruch and Silas to them being very nice and pour them really expensive wine, then 'ask' them to bring him back a jewel from the kind's crown within one week to prevent the fall of the covenant as told by the prophecy by sacrificing
a member of the Guardian Family (which Aedith and you are part of) and have them guard it, thus ending the dragon problem. The team have different idea regarding the sacrifice, but for now, they will focus on getting the jewel.

The reluctant duo then grab Ramon and Corbenik to help them in this quest. They have no clue where to go so the only relevant people like Gustbran and Aedith has joined the team on the flying Pegasus traveling using the skysea while the covenant shakes like crazy.

By Aedith's memory, she lead the team to some location near Libellus, and they decide to land near a stone manor nearby which is the local red cap station. There they inquire about the current event before the lady captain pulled out a bounty identify Silas and Baruch as wanted by the Blackthorn covenant! A fight broke out as the team resist the arrest, and thankfully they gotten away safely cursing that they forgot about the bounty.

Log Twenty-seven: Search for the King's Jewel Part 2

After escaping the ambush, Momo pop out of the basket to the team's surprise and joined the team in their hunt for the crown jewel. About twenty five miles north, in The Wash, the team spotted French flags: about thirty ships, clearly bristling with troops. Clearly the team that's hunting king John! A fog then appear at The Wash, which the team later determine it's an act of divine intervention! Despite the dog, a gifted archer spotted the pegasus and shoot it, but thankfully the pegasus avoided and they hastily land on the fog-covered market place. No alarm is raised since the archer think it's just a random flyby creature.

Baruch Spotted the king's banner and Ramon scouted a stone tower with the royal banner flying over head. Two guards with poleaxes wait by the door. Momo was send to check out the inside which he got pass everyone easily with his charm and climbing up toward the king's room, he search around for the crown to no avail before settling down to sleep in a chest.

The mages outside use magic to eavesdrop on the conversation of the noble within and discover the location of the king is currently traveling. After retrieving Momo, the team speeds toward the Terrington St Clement at the east, a crossing point over the rivers. From there, the team magic eavesdrop on group of people with horse at the church in the local village, which reveal one of them is the king preparing with his man to escape the pursuing French knight 15 minutes away.

The team can't decide how to do this as the king and his men travels and come to a stop between a strong high tide of river that the king eventually decide to brave through. The tide suddenly rise up high and will swallow them all so the team takes action, which mostly reduce to 'forget the king, grab the jewels!'

After a lot of fumbling around with the river, drowning, sinking, acrobatic, backflip with full armor, etc. (read log for detail). The team got a few jewel that wasn't what they are looking for, which is probably still in one of the bag on the Knight Sir William's horse. He's pursuing and trying to save the king at the moment, so the team will have to follow him.

Log Twenty-Eight:The Sneezing Colors

One days after the main forces of the players has left the covenant in late autumn to search for the King's Jewel. Fishy have a premonition that something will happen, but it can't tell what it is. So Fishy swims around to look for people to help out, and only Bashir, Taitale, and Aiden are bored interested enough to follow Fishy. Dirk use his logical reasoning that since the Criamon Makara didn't come, then it must be something that's not worth his time.

Fishy sense leads the team into the Garden of Grain and Apples, Southeast of the city. Where they meet a greeter that who voices his great discontent for his rival competitor from the Garden of Olive and Lemon at the Northeast. Fishy then seems to have a change of 'feel' and lead the team to the local market of the Hyperborean Quarter at the east of the city. There, they scouted for potential danger that might arise, but to no avil until the skeleton alarm of the covenant rings. It took them a while, but Fishy's stronger senses lead them to look up in the sky to see a snake-like line of various radiant colors swimming above the cloudsea swiftly toward the covenant.

The team watches while the local soldiers that spotted the color rushes toward the edge with the ballista pre-mounted with a iron javelin ready to fire at the potential invader. The worst outcome has become reality, the colors pop out of the cloud sea and reveals to be a dragon with a second head as a tail! It sneezed.

The team, being consist of companion and support mage, can’t do much but watches. Thankfully Makara rush toward the scene to save th--, no, he just here to ask about Fishy’s dinner, and then he run back to his lab full speed.

Anyway, the dragon (Sneezed again) tries to fly into the covenant but the aegis blocked it. The ballista team fires their iron Javelin but it just bounce off the dragon’s mighty scale. Taitale inspire them to try again, this time with a silver javelin, because silver always works, right?

The enraged sneezing dragons tries to slam at the aegis but still can’t get through, which gives everyone a good morale boost, enough that the ballista fire their javelin and… Ah, the aim was off (botch), but wait! The Dragon also flying too angrily to dodge the javelin in time (botch), which leads to a successful grazing!

The silver arrow seems to work better and manage to knock a piece of scale off the dragon, but it’s falling toward the world below the cloud, so Taitale decides to wheel his flying chair out of the covenant and through great skill, luck, and confident, snatched the scale, which later analyze by Aiden and others to contain a spark of Muto vis.

Taitale theorize that the reason the dragon sneezed so much is due to the coldness in the skysea and the dragon must had traveled a very long journey to reach us.

The dragon realizes the weaponry of our covenant is effective against it, and tries to escape toward the skysea. However, Antonious has arrived with his hand holding on to his bath towel around his hip, still wet from the bath and he’s pissed.

The team explains the situation to Antonious while he tries to cast a slumber spell on the escaping dragon. Too bad his gesture leads him to drop his bath towel and he have to waste his turn to get it.

While the dragon in the skysea, Antonious manage to connect the dragon’s color with his magic and fling a slumber spell at it, but he botched, and manage to resist the twilight. Twilight decides to take his bath towel anyway. Bashir from that moment on, do his best to help cover Antonious’ manhood from being exposed by covering it with some cloth while Antonious ran and gesture around. It’s not an easy task, but he succeeds all the way.

The slumber spell failed, either due to the lack of sight, twilight, or distractions. The party watches as the dragon swim toward the west, thinking the danger is over, but the dragon actually going toward the center of the city at the Plaza of Serene Wisdom to dive down in full power trying to breakthrough the aegis.

The team has two turns to prevent the dragon’s attack, assuming it can breakthrough the aegis. Aiden try various spells at his disposal and learned a few valuable lessons of why it doesn’t work on a dragon, Taitale keep on inspiring the ballista team that are resetting up the javelin for a new position, Bashir still guarding the great secret of our glorious leader, and Antonious fling another slumber spell.

The spell hits true to the mind of the dragon, and it falls asleep, but to the surprise of everyone, the second head on the tails takes over and do a spin to continue the dive in front, slamming through the aegis, causing some damage to the dragon with scales falling off it’s head. The ballista team missed due to the surprising spinning maneuver and Antonious fling a slumber spell at the second head in the last moment, it hits, but it failed to work.

As the dragon almost touches the ground of the covenant, it turn into an Azure glow of light, and the City of Ivory and Jade has only shaken gently and for a few moment, wrap in this Azure glows before it dissipate into nothingness. The dragon is nowhere to be seen.

Taitale’s preliminary research shown that the dragon seems did something to the covenant. He think the covenant aegis now have a hint of the dragon's flavor/smell.

Antonious in rage, quickly rushing toward his lab, possibly to consort the prophecy, preserving some sort of arcane connection, or figuring out what’s happening to his covenant. Bashir got a tip for his good work.

The birds hop out of their nest, look around and resume chipping as if nothing has happen. Life slowly returns to the city as the danger seems to be over, but demands for what exactly has happen are now the burdens of the Philosopher Kings.

Log Twenty-Nine: Bury The Crown

The French is coming closer and our Gustbran is taken by the Strongest Knight in Europe™ , William, Marshal of England. William also seems to be keeping the crown jewel that we need in his horse’s saddlebag, so we rinse and repeat following them in our illusion cloud and magic his bags toward us.

William questions this on our Gustbran, and Gustbran denied involvement, which he roll his charm against the Strongest Knight in Europe™.

Gustbran make an epic charming roll of 41 from a quadrupling roll, and the Marshal takes a instant liking to him and even knighted him later.

We eventually gotten what we need and Baruch pumped a bunch of mist to get our Gustbran through the confusion and that mist somewhat deterred the French army, but they ultimately catches up, and they almost cleaved Edith in half if it wasn’t for some our of magic. Yes we broke another hermetic law. Sue us.

We then escape from the scene after we got everyone in our cloud illusion flying boat and the King and his knight manage to get away apparently.

There the team discuss on their next action: Go back to City of Ivory and Jade or find out more about Burying the crown.

We decided to burial it, at which point we would need to find the ghost of the father of Edith, learn the secret of the bury, and get Silas to marry Edith now because according to Edith, the secret can only be pass down to the son or daughter.

So we flown around looking for some small church that won’t stand out, and Edith hated her marriage to be so discreet and cheap. She later throws a lot more tantrum about how she what her wedding to workout like grabbing her dowry that her mother left behind from Libellus, but we manage to convince her otherwise with alternatives.

Silas manage to talk up a local priest to perform a marriage for them but rushing it would require permission from a bishop and a good reason. Silas try to lie and he botched, which the priest kick him off his church.

Eventually we decided to go to that big and expansive church at Bury because it’s near the burial site of St-Edmunds. There we meet the abbot Samson that say he’s expecting us because he have a dream of Saint Edmund telling him so and all the rushing marriage adjustment has been made.

Things are going well for Silas and Edith in their wedding when suddenly a horseman rush in and grabbed Edith, Baruch, being our badass, decide to give chase at the horse with his low athletic roll vs 18 which is impossible for him physically, but he rolled a 21 from doubling and spend a confidence to up that into Mythic Success that’s equivalent to a Hollywood action movie star. A legendary act. So Baruch decide to jump on the horse, land on the rider's back with both my feet, take a stranglehold of his throat with my legs, twist him off the horse, and grab the reins of the horse, bringing it to a halt.

The kidnapper didn’t see that coming and fall victim to Baruch chokehold and fall off the horse. He’s arrested and the confused abbot continues the ceremony successfully.

With no clue on where Edith’s dad has been buried, and in a very close voting (Including Momo the cat’s vote), we we decide to take peek at Libellus before going home.

We regarded it, as a drake is attack the covenant again and saw us. Barach manage to lighting the crap out of it with his talisman easily and a storm-bird like being also join in to beat the crap out of the drake, which impressed Barach a lot. It eats the drake’s eyeball. So hardcore.

Anyway, that talking wolf from way before approach us and want Silas to go with him. When Silas become reluctant when he see the drake, the wolf bite his leg and drag him off, we were too far and too busy to notice that. Later on, the wolf digs out a perfect head of Edith’s dad that can be use for summoning his ghost, which Silas has the spell Whispers Through the Black Gate that do just that.

The ghost is summoned, Silas got the secret and he rush back in time for the drake to be dealt with and he adamant about keeping the ritual formula a secret, which he goes alone to bury it.

Suddenly another flying boat with the flag of City of Ivory and Jade come flying, we were careful to check the people on it, which are Antonious and a few grogs. Nervously but carefully, Baruch establish contact with our leader and the overjoyed and maddened Antonious reveals his new plan to rule the world by using the crown to control the dragons. Some of us see that he seems to be possessed by a serpent-like power… Or just his usual craziness X 10.

Momo and Baruch distract him by praising and asking about his awesome plan to keep him occupied while Silas sneak away to bury the crown. Baruch eventually fail his personality roll of Obedient and Kind, and decide to take this mad man down with a zap that send him flying!

His grogs doesn’t know what to do so Momo roll leadership to tell them to hold down this possessed leader, which he botched and make them charge at him instead. Most are impeded by magic by one got through and slashed Momo. Momo is down. MOMO IS DOWN! AHHHHH! Oh wait, Faeries can’t really die, phew. Momo fell down bleeding and incapacitated until the appropriate time. Gustbran almost chirurgery-choke him to faerie death though…

Silas successfully buried the crown with the secret ritual and the world is saved with a heaven beaming and song. Antonius got away someone and the team then returns to the City of Ivory and Jade.

The fetching of a book and the Barcelonean spirit murder

The covenant has a book exchange but the finished product requires fetching from a Mercere covenant in Barcelona. This fortunately coincides with the need to sell our harvest so Leto a resident magister and general go-to sales person is drafted for the task. As is Baruch and Taitale who played a part in making the book deal and Corbenik who will serve as protector. Bashir tags along on “business for Antonius” along side with Aiden, Momo and Fishy who all have grown tired of the same odd in the covenant.

The trip proceeds as planned and we arrive in Barcelona without too much difficulty, we learn that the book is not yet completed though but are given rooms to stay in. As we sleep for the night a murder most foul happens in the room next to ours. Aiden and Momo both see a huge bear spirit leaving a still locked room. With the spirit gone our brave crew opens the door where a huge puddle of blood is seeping out from. The room is the same as the rest, save for a headless corpse and his belongings: Some ledgers, a bag of coin, some papers, a telescope and an amulet.

As Corbenik attempted to point out to the group before we magic'ed the door open we became suspects in the crime, though even the Covenant doubted that we were really guilty, but were offered to clear our names by solving the crime – and returning the items we stole. Stole might be harsh, as most items were simply taken to give some insight, save for a bag with enough gold to buy a decent house in the city. Taitale, perceptive as he was solved the mystery quickly: Bashir the young thief had taken it and would have gotten away with it too had the windows of the Covenant not been enchanted (or so he would have liked to think!).

With all items in our possession we begin the true mystery, who killed him and why!

The mages notice the amulet is enchanted, and not long after we find that the amulet was taken from a sailor that the murdered man had been captain for. In search for the sailor we were fortunate enough to have Mono along, as well as Baruch who enchanted his sense of smell. Momo, our black cat who had previously succeeded in scaring a bunch of other sailors, was the one to find him in the end with an astonishing roll of 132!!! Mono could have found God in the heavens or a celestial body fit for human (or perhaps faery) life, but alas, we were just looking for a man with a bandana.

Corbenik attempts to trick the man into confessing or just divulge more of what he knows, but he was truly shocked by the events. Running out of time and ideas we took the more direct approach. Suspecting the amulet to be cursed or at least the cause of the captain's misfortunes we leave the city accompanied by a guard from the local Covenant and waited till nightfall.

Fortune favors the bold, or perhaps the cautious... As night progressed the spirit bear did appear. Aiden and the guard who was also able to see spirits saw it approaching and gave warning. Baruch summoned up a storm and stood ready. As the spirit materialized by Corbenik (who was carrying the amulet *cough meatshield *cough*) lightning struck the bear!

With the bear dead we returned to the city and in the morning heard that the young sailor who owned the amulet had been found dead. Baruch suspected that the spirit was actually that of the young man but with no proof it would remain a theory. The items returned, the book collected, the produce sold the group returned home with a new trinket that was handed over to Antonius on our return.
