Now, Legate, Can'EH'dians are surprisingly resilient and more than willing to go toe to toe with the major powers if necessary.

And I found the story of Swastika, Ontario during WW2 exceedingly funny. "Hell no you're not changing our town's name to Winston!"

This is the Canadian Pride thread, so, I think you should be as proud as you want to be here. :)

For me: Canada is...OK, I guess. What did they do again? They're cold, right? :)

I'll let that second comment slide because the people in this current generation are useless. We rather be keyboard warriors than actually doing our thing because there's a battle we could help mend, yet we rather see people suffer while gaining a cheap sense of fuzzy-feelings. [Edit: I lied, there are people helping, just not enough in troubled areas.] Like I said in the Klingon post that our blood has been tainted, weakened, or whatever the Klingons might say :P. At lease we have noteworthy modern ships which can still be kanmusu'fied (Animefied/Bellefied) in fan-art, or for some game concept, or anything. I'd however have to find a game with proper character creation & open-worldness in an anime-sense. *shrug*

Also, to add to the joking comments......

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika,_Ontario & http://www.mysteriesofcanada.com/ontario/swastika/

In 1935, the raise of Nazism in Germany created a major problem for the few hundred people of Swastika. As war loomed and then exploded in Europe the Ontario government decided that German sounding names should not exist in Ontario, regardless of the origins of the names or the peoples of the towns or area. Berlin, Ontario was changed to Kitchener and Swastika was changed to Winston. While the name change stuck in Kitchener, the townsfolk of Swastika were not amused. They tore down the Winston sign and replaced it with a restored Swastika sign (good for them!) and another sign which read, “To hell with Hitler, we came up with our name first

I remember hearing it first on Tumblr, and always on Tumblr, that it makes me frustratingly go "WHY HAVEN'T I LEARNED THIS IN SCHOOL?!" which then makes me Google such. That, then also something I came across was a single Canadian guy liberating an occupied Dutch town from the Germans because he was impatient.

Wiki Source which basically goes as I read it on Tumblr: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A9o_Major

Battle of the Scheldt

Major single-handedly captured 93 German soldiers during the Battle of the Scheldt in Zeeland in the southern Netherlands.[6] During a reconnaissance, whilst alone, he spotted two German soldiers walking along adike. As it was raining and cold, Major said to himself, "I am frozen and wet because of you so you will pay."[5] He captured the first German and attempted to use him as bait so he could capture the other. The second attempted to use his gun, but Major quickly killed him. He went on to capture their commanding officer and forced him to surrender. The German garrison surrendered themselves after three more were shot dead by Major. In a nearby village, SS troops who witnessed German soldiers being escorted by a Canadian soldier shot at their own soldiers, injuring a few and killing seven. Major disregarded the enemy fire and kept escorting his prisoners to the Canadian front line. Major then ordered a passing Canadian tank to fire on the SS troops.

He marched back to camp with nearly a hundred prisoners. Thus, he was chosen to receive a DCM. He declined the invitation to be decorated, however, because according to him General Montgomery (who was giving the award) was "incompetent" and in no position to be giving out medals.[5]

Loving what I find on Youtube & Tumblr. Even so, make sure to note 'Corvette K225' with me wondering if it holds up to the standards that 'Das Boot' gave me.

A little edit towards Legate's posting. Finding myself too frustrated to word properly so trying to correct my errors.

For me: Canada is...OK, I guess. What did they do again? They're cold, right? :)

To summarize, they helped protect the critical convoys that kept Britain from starving to death and running out of resources. At the peak, Canada was in control of the Battle of the Atlantic from the Northern Half of the US Seaboard all the way to Iceland.

Canadian warships helped bombard the beaches of Normandy, as well as participated in the search for Bismarck.

But probably the greatest contribution Canada made in WWII was training hundreds of thousands or Allied Pilots and Airmen under the BCATP, supplying hundreds of thousands of vehicles and weapons, as well as half of the aluminum and 90% of the Nickel used in the war. Not to mention the source of the Uranium used in the Manhattan Project. Canada remains one of the major sources of Uranium in the world, and ultimately a major source for the American stock of weapons grade Plutonium.

You never think of Canada as a nuclear power, do you? It's both comforting and scary that the world's potential for nuclear winter lies with Canada.

On another note, maybe Esquimalt, BC could later appear as a base for British players operating in the Pacific, especially since the Morgana seem to have a base of operations around the Bering Sea.

If anybody is going to have a Canadian territory base, then it should be the Canadians themselves. There should be a 'base borrowing' mechanic though if British were to use Canadian bases. Yes, even if they [Canadians] only have destroyers, 3 armed merchant cruisers, and even 2 light cruisers. Two bases to make use of. That, and if we're going to have air cover I want our Canadian air aces to appear in it also leading their own squad or doing their own thing.

Has me brainstorming what could happen with the air reinforcements, the convoy system, the 'leasing' (borrowing) of a base, and such. If Surcourf visited Halifax then I could imagine friendly & neutral Belles visiting your base for a quick repair, resupply, to then seeing them wander the world briefly. The moment where you can assist Belles for a few days (even a week) to then have a third chance at recruiting them (unless this was the original plan). The Belles should have a will of their own when they're sent to you so they could then 'conform' to your habits. They should eventually have a system where they learn your habits to then try conforming to them. A gimmicky 'trust' meter, or something with other Belles from when they first wander in while still waving the flag of another nation to then being won over/seduced/forcefully claimed, or whatever. So many ideas & ways this could go, especially when being the sneaky foxy Canadians....If we're given our own national faction in 1940, or whatever. All the possibilities.

Also, the nuclear bit of trivia doesn't surprise me as we're used as USA's puppet. Another reason why I want to mention hostile comments but I'd provoke a certain someone missing the irony as to why I'm being hostile/obnoxious. :P

Nah, I'm just sick & tired in the same manner Wellington is sick & tired of me mentioning what I keep mentioning with the irony there. There's both an obvious void & that annoyance of being over-exposed that I'm seeing an open road which can be taken, yet no/little effort being done. HMCS Saguenay is the exception, as with 'Victory at Sea' with the nation being under UK banner. I'm just seeing a proper opportunity that it pains me that I have no creative talent to do it myself of the ones from the list + seeing traits in real world ships being translated nicely into a nice anime. There could be a separate Anime and game just for RCN, HNLMS, among others. Not just for Canadians, yet for Dutch also. Even a bit from Sweden, Russia, and such. I haven't seen much from them either that you'd hate me 10x worse when I'd focus on them.

Blame the void.

They'll get to Canadian ships when they get to them. Don't try to force them into making Canada have nearly 20 ships when the game comes out.

For me, personally, the Canadian Pride thread is perfect for talking about Canada, as a Nation and as Belles. I believe anyone can express their opinion here on that topic as forcefully as they please.

However, while I'll pass the comments and information on to the Team, they will take the final decision for '39. So: have at it! This is the right place for hopes, dreams, plans and suggestions. :)

At first it was just me being surprised Canadians have been noticed when I saw HMCS Saguenay, then speculation & brainstorming of the possibilities while being a tiny bit obnoxious about it. The bit on Kickstarter & the first page simply being all fun and games so that part is still fine. A bit of Klingon harmless fun also. Sorry, but Wellington, you're a threat to me in this thread. We were cool at first but we keep clashing so I guess we're meant to be enemies (I say, as I view this whole thing in an a fate/destiny type thing in a game & anime manner) :D

Yup, BCS shall get to the other Canadians whenever they're in the mood for them. Same with the Dutch, and others. That's been established many times that I'm simply openly brainstorming & speculating. So many times I've had my ups & downs of being happy & unhappy because each day is different with its own share of craziness. Even so, I'm happy we've seen Surcourf (French), Royal Ark (UK), Admiral Graf Spee (German), and others. Hoping to see Dutch soon, or some other minor or major nation in the spotlight. Russia, for example. Make us all happy by giving the spotlight to those outside of cookie cutter WW2 games, as well as Canadians, the Dutch, and others. That's awesome. More power to the 'Forgotten Beauties'. Also, don't mistake my pride for pushiness, as it has been done many times. I may be wording it in a pushy manner, yet that's just me being a loud thinker trying to push people on the creative side, not the BCS side. Not just Canadians either, but for their own nation type creativity to just dig into whatever they find. Maybe on the base side I'll be pushy for Halifax & Vancouver being Canadian in flag to be used by UK & others in returned kindness because I see such as something weird being controled purely by UK. I guess that's a Code Geass thing with "All Hail Britannia!"

I can see a good 10 Canadian Belles from the Destroyer + Cruiser line. I can see 20 if you count the noteworthy Flower-Class Corvettes, yet they were mentioned to be a pluasible late edition. 29? Even I would love to boast such a pride of 29 noteworthy RCN vessels.. I'm the one supposed to be over-estimating. Again, I had to copy & paste my link to the bottom of my first posting so go study that. It even has a wiki link.

Legate proving I'm just a frustrated gamer wanting more variety in his WW2 games while BCS is at the helm in control of everything. If they want to add more RCN then again, more power to them. I said this many times before, and again that they'd gain high praise from both me & my fellow Canadians, as well as Belles representing other nations from forgotten nations, such as Netherlands, France, & even the South Americans. Oddly enough, Italy has been forgotten, yet we're hopefully returning such with Adua-Class type hype, and with KanColle help. Even mentioned we may even see Italy during the release as to keep things a surprise. Various things have to still be surprises. I haven't unleashed my frustration on the other 'minor' nations yet because I'm mainly Canadian focusing on the Canadian void. You Americans are lucky to be in every WW2 game & media :)

[just some odd edits here & there. Added some Code Geass dark humour.]

Russia's been the spotlight of many a WWII game before, and for good reason. Not naval games, of course (the VMF was neither effective not oft-used), but the nation as a whole has been in the spotlight many times and is credited by some as being the major factor in the victory.

Not a response to your whole comment, just something I noticed and felt the need to correct.

The "All Hail Britannia" this is a bit bothersome. Sure, we are our own country, but there is no need to treat Britain like they are invading and taking over us during WW2. Heck it wasn't until the Canada Act in 1982 that we were fully shed of colonial status.

I guess they have, and they do have some noteworthy ships to turn into Belles. Just like that one submarine which came close to Tirpitz, and then those various battleships. The rest were inbetween oddities because they were on loan, yet I'd have to do more digging. Other than Civilization & Rise of Nations I can't seem to recall a game with Russians. I guess Battlefield 1942 also, yet they're staying outside of such.

I know Pacific Storm: Allied Expansion was the only game I've seen Dutch being added in some form, yet forgot in what manner. Everything is just messy, frustrating, and such.

In my frustration in the dead of night I must have accidentally worded it to be insulting, or society is hyper-sensitive 0_0.

More like me poking some fun that Canada is still British at heart & that I'm just having some fun in an anime manner. Again, that's something I should be saying if I'm aggressively proudly Canadian, but whatever. Even I'm being surprised as this topic goes as if I'm stepping on people's toes. But I guess I can say that if you're finding it bothersome then you're gradually inching closer to my frustration. Just take a few more steps and you'll see this giant black void with the occasional mist cloud (mist representing the few times Canadians were added). We still have those British traditions so it makes sense to poke some fun, even in an anime manner. Not as an aggression or offensive manner, just one of those 'for fun' moments. I didn't want it the 'All Hail Britannia' to come off as insulting, but I guess it's just going to come off as such.

--------

Also, on a side note I'm frustrated with the Liberals. They're postponing building a supply ship by taking their sweet time with it. Building it so slowly that you can't whine at them for not building them, yet so slowly that it starves the troops, or disables their actions that Canada is left in a laughing state that I can see why we're not in any game. What was meant to force the Liberals to build it caused the Liberals to build it similar to how you place one Lego brick piece onto a lego set per day; For weeks & months by taking your sweet time with it.

How does that make sense. It's not a combat vessel, just a supply ship. It's a military supply ship, yet they're doing this. NOW I'm bring in politics because this is just pathetic. It's a supply ship, yet people flock to Trudeau because he's great at acting. (Me genuinely offended). >Insert crying emote here for inner feelings<

Hearts of Iron 3 and 4, Heroes and Generals, Red Orchestra, pretty much any and every world war 2 game out there has the Russians

And you have a nasty habit of wording things in that manner (as well as not giving thanks to someone who went out of their way to make a background for you)

Red Orchestra is something I played, yet fell flat because it needed people. Now it's named...... 'Darkest Hour: 44-45'. Then you're bringing up older games that I haven't played so I couldn't really mention it. There was something else, but it's escaping me right now.

I do have a nasty way of wording things that I try to go back to edit it, yet it STILL Somehow stays there or ends up being oddly focused on. It's frustrating. And I did give thanks to him (Nel), or I hopefully did, in the thread of his. If I didn't then I have too much on my mind with workplace abuse & other game projects. Also, that's also a 'low-blow' also but I guess that's only going to be seen as fair in a karma sense. I still want to give him my full respect & thanks, but wondering how much that's worth now. I'll still try & give it for how high quality they are. Nice guilt trip that it makes things even more awkward for me. Awesome.

Again, I don't view 'All Hail Britannia' as "offensive" because I have accepted Canada to be of British origins and that we're simply still puppets to both USA & UK. We Canadians basically copy Americans while very lightly spinning it as our own while having that European touch in technology, traditions, F1, & culture. It is also a 'bit' depressing how we shed our colonial status that everything did previous is often ignored, but hey...now you know.

Alright, what's next.

Damn it >_>. I thought I did when I originally requested. WHy the hell did I not post such......I actually loved the quality to both the Canadian & Red Ensign. It now going to sound cheap when I'll say it in a bit after all this unnecessary drama. *sighs*. Still waiting on me having free time to build up that 'Rising World' (Think Minecraft) building of mine to pop a poster with that lovely wallpaper of Saguenay up. Rarely had time. Even the time spent here isn't enough on there.

Another game I wanted to bring up was 'IL-2 Sturmovik - 1946' with a nice range of national variety. Managed to mod in (add in) the lovely Japanese Shinden, as with seeing a vanilla 'Czechoslovakia', another forgotten war-time participant. Something I'd love to go back to 'test' out their vehicles, yet can't because everything is a bunch of 'cookie cutter' madness. *shrugs*. Hearts of Iron I haven't played so I can't say much. I now recalled War Thunder giving thanks to the Canadians through a 'Golden Sabre' plane & a Maple Emblem, yet that's still few & far in between one another. Was also one more on the Canadian, and I again failing to recall that one with the Russian. It's bugging me. It's there, but I can't push it out into text. Common, let me just mention you already.......

Happy Canada Day to all the Canadians.

If the next Belle isn't Canadian then there was a missed opportunity. I don't visit much because of Wellington's irony in patriotism not allowing me to share my Canadian pride so I hope you guys been having fun. I just feel like a piece of crap so I'm just wanting to wish such & wander back out. Have fun celebrating :)

Now back out I go as I salute my forgotten Canadian Belles & those that served on them during WW2. o7

The Belle that will be interviewed today will be Hiryuu as voted upon last weekend

And to clarify, it's not the what but the how. It's not what you're saying but how you're going about saying it. It's the fanaticism for no reason other than to be annoyingly ironic

Well, I'm now genuinely afraid of coming here that it took me since I last replied to come here + having to wait after work to even consider checking what messages are here. It's not really how I'm saying it, more like jealousy that patriotism is southern owned. But ya. I made a similar thread in another forum with someone trying to stir up crap by bringing Steven Harper into the mix then I called him out for it with me trying to stay neutral. I was told to take a chill pill when I wanted a neutral topic that mocking, taunting, and bullcrap is going to happen regardless........

And I had a nice laugh that BCS took the Japanese route (through voting, or not) that it's neither Canadian, nor American, that it's straight Japanese. Hiryuu being the one with the lovely stern in KanColle when she's damaged. Her stern shows off nicely. WHen I saw that e-mail notification after playing Rising World for Canada Day it just made me laugh. I have yet to read it, yet I did skim through it. I lacked the time to do it that Sunday & Monday shall give me a good time to catch up on whatever I may have missed.

But at least you know how I feel when I have to stare at US fanaticism all the time that being proud of any other 'minor navy' is not allowed; shunned at; disrespected. Your little jab with the 'deculture' was off putting that I feel you're tied to me a bit too much. I mean, a bit comical yet worrisome. A little breathing room be nice :). That, and I get the same crap even when my neutral Canadian topic on another game forum gets ruined by anti-Steven Harper bullcrap when I simply said 'Happy Canada Day!' that There's just no winning. That, when I say irony is that when I'm trying to, for once, respect my Canadian navy that it's not allowed. I want to bring race into this, yet I'm not going to because I just can't word things properly enough. I'm already 'fearful' of opening up this damn thread as it is.

Oh, and if anybody is wondering may probably be happy to hear my Canada Day was absolute crap. It wasn't patriotic to me at all so I guess you guys shall view that as karma. I did enjoy the two nasty thunderstorms I had in the nation's capital, yet it didn't feel like Canada Day at all.........Moving on......(Came here to search up two midget submarines I made note of for another game. Italy's CB-Class Submarine......)

To be fair, the deculture thing was a result of me not knowing the reference you were referring to and making an inference based on how the word was constructed and your previous comment on how Pola didn't look Italian.

And I don't believe I ever said or did anything to say it wasn't allowed. Only mentioning that the Belle was a Japanese Belle, not Canadian as you mentioned "If the next Belle isn't Canadian then there was a missed opportunity", and clarifying your statement about me. You still somehow believe that I'm against showing off Canadian pride in any capacity, which is wholly incorrect.
