Friendly Fleet & Home Base

Heyo. just some re-stated thoughts meant for the forum this time from the Kickstarter comments. Something for me to look back on with ease, and maybe others to make note of. And also note that with the information BCS provided I'm simply giving my feedback according to such. I'll obviously be off note on certain things until others have been brought to light, or when we're actually given the beta/main game. This is just me attempting to 'improve' the game using intel only. Also, keep in mind that I'm not trying to demand, nor pull anyones arm, just that these should at the least be considered for the likes of Victory Belles.

- Friendly Fleet:

  • Multiple Fleet Sorties: Having more than one active at a time for when things go slow. Can't say how the pacing goes, just that you'll eventually need to form numerous fleets to deal with many. Even the Canadians had numerous roaming about. Atlantic, Pacific, & 'Trio Prince Navy', among others I have failed to note. Even with the Dutch having been scattered around the globe, homeless by the Germans.
  • Attack & Defend: With the mention of bases there needs to now be a way to go both on the offensive & defensive, more so when you'll gain numerous amounts of Belles. Those assigned to main, secondary, defense, & others.
  • Main & Secondaries: Basically the above two, yet context being different roles. One would be on an attack, another would follow behind/nearby somewhere for alternate purposes. I guess I'm thinking KanColle's Combined Fleet, yet still its own unit inspired by 'Flower Knight Girl'. Granted, we also have control.
  • Convoy (resources): If possible, & if there's a way to limit abuse, I'd strongly recommend a focus on a mini-game challenge to send convoys to friends with various resources. Maybe even equipment, or similar. The catch being Morganas preying on these convoys to the point you'll have to heavily & seriously consider the convoy lay-out. Even with multiple puppet accounts there should be some fun & fun penalties (timers, or limits) to how many convoys can be sent out, and such. They would be sent out, yet you'd have to work to even receive/send convoys. I won't mind either way, yet the other three above being more serious a consideration.

- Co-op/Friend Fleets:

The part that ruined it for me in KanColle was being unable to send or recieve aid from fellow Admirals. It would have been easily abused convoy (supply) wise, yet would have worked as a support fleet in hard maps, or even events. The game you also played felt 'bland' or just 'disconnected' that KanColle Web might as well be an offline game, something like the Vita or Arcade game. It's just......lagging behind horribly that both Victory Belles & KanColle need better fleet functions. PVP exercise is nice, yet that doesn't do it. The void is still there.

For Aid Assistance & Assistance Timer/Cooldown, they're basically the same thing. I'm thinking Victory at Sea here with the reinforcement timer & such.

  • Friend Escorts: Whenever you're on a map it would be neat to gain friendly escorts as you go. It doesn't matter what map, or how. Just that it should be a thing with them escorting your fleet around & vice-versa in kind. You would vote & chat where to go, and react accordingly via in-game or outside game messaging.
  • Aid Assistance: Talking with Nel (proud Nera lover) about this. Depending on how the difficulty plays out, this should be triggered/activated whenever you raid a heavy amount of forces, maybe even more noteworthy when attacking Morgana's heavier fortifications that even your main fleet won't do. Even when your second fleet is occupied, or just not an option (BCS gameplay choice, or something). I guess it can be abused to aid new-comers, thus the higher-difficulty focus on harder maps. That, or can only be activated certain times with a cool-down, or a timer of when they arrive.
  • Assistance Timer/Cooldown: I'm now thinking 'Victory At Sea' here, yet ties to the 'Aid Assistance' heavily. with how reinforcements work in VAC, they would take time coming to your position, even deciding if they should aid you or not.
  • Stalling Tactics: If it hasn't been considered, there should be a way to stall the Morgana long enough with specific tactics to allow, or at least try, for reinforcements to arrive on either your end or the friend side of things. I guess you could think of Bismarck & Prinz Eugen vs HMS Hood & friends with how Bismarck stalled to allow Prinz Eugen through, among others.

- Base Focus:

I guess this could be considered inspiration from KanColle's Admiral room, yet we should be given a main room to eventually focus on to decorate.

  • Naval Decoration: Basically a base which follows you from one game to the next. Something that allows you to display your trophies, medals, Belles, among others. If you want it to be 2D or 3D is up to you, yet I'd suggest fake 3D for gimmicky movement :P.
  • Belle Activity: It bugged me how KanColle web failed here, yet KanColle Arcade tried to improve here. Basically an area to see your Belles roaming about doing various things. Doesn't have to be anything special. Could be a SIm City 4 Isometric gimmicky top-down, or similar, of your Belles interacting with various things. Just walking around aimlessly, cooking, push-ups, cleaning their gear, examining their vessel, or something. Running, chatting bubbles, or whatever comes to mind. Maybe even linked up to their actions of coming in & out of the naval base, or various ones around the map. Whatever works in the end. As long as we see them roaming about is all that matters.

------------

I'm assuming that's it? From what was mentioned from Kickstarter till now is what I made note of here. I feel some may have slipped my mind, yet this is what I could recall & make note of. If there's anything that needs clarification then don't be shy. I'll try to clarify my merged 'feedback-suggestions' :P

A tiny bit buzzkilled (mood wise) that nobody bothered with the Canadian topic, yet I won't blame anyone. Guess I'll just allow that to sink to the bottom until its appropriate time to come back up.

While battle assistance is nice hopefully the game's difficulty doesn't make battle assistance from friends mandatory to get good results. Then it'll become like one of those mobile games where we only add people with high level ships to our friendlist.

It's why I tried to focus on the likes of how 'Victory at Sea' did things that you have to have conditions to have fleets in range. You have to have your friends in the same area, have conditions right to even have their assistance, and even then, stall long enough for them to sail in while you're somehow stalling them. Go check out the game 'Victory at Sea' to see how it plays out.

As for only befriending high level friends....I'd say just add friends while keeping the whole player recruiting to a minimum. Keep it to PVP, or only have the friendlist only being friends. Those that you met actually being those outside the game, until someone makes note that you should do it in game, and through PVP, or something. I hate people that abuse or play games the way that's mentioned in the quote. It takes the whole fun out of things.

Love this kind of stuff!

Will send it in to the Team, but...wait for it...'39 first! :)

Edit: XKrieg - I think our view as a RPG is: activity good, level less important. But again: '39 first! :)

Nice!

Oh, I am. I'm now beginning my wait while examing each & every bit of information that's released to us. Trying to piece each bit that I'm wanting to jump in and get used to the likes of what '39 has to offer :)

Also, I can't help but 'over-glorify' the whole mental image I have going on about reinforcements with Nel (A.K.A Nera Lover) sending over Nera + others to aid my fleet, and similar whenever I get Bismarck in the '40's update, and such. Just imagining those random & sudden moments where reinforcements happens to aid you when you most need it, at random. Also, the over-glorified mental image being of Bismarck's bow gloriously arriving on the battlefield to wreck havoc while appearing out of the fog/mist :P.

I have to now blame Flower Knight Girl for allowing us to recruit squads, if gimmicky, that I'm now playing around with that thought for this game. Something more practical, tactical, and of actual purpose and use that I even have to use 'Victory at Sea' to showcase it.

I think it would also be really interesting if you could build support fleets as well, though the role in the game would be completely dependent on how the gameplay is. I think it would be really cool if you were able to have a support fleet with your main fleets composed of fuelers and ammunition ships and the like having differing effects on combat and such.

If its too much management they could always be little chibi ships and just have them as equipment just providing stat benefits. Though if they were their own little chibi supply fleet...it would be absolutely adorable. Just like a mother duck being followed by ducklings. But aside from that little comment I think there could be many fun ways to play around with supply fleets.

Also as a possible gameplay option, Sending out convoys between bases or other locations for resources? With the possibility of Morganas intercepting them so if you have some extra Belles you can send to escort them? But instead of being between friends having individual expeditions and the such in the same vain of Panzer Waltz's Lifestyles.

Maybe they could do some thing like ease Fuel and ammo consumption because you do an en route resupply. Or repairs part of the Belle's health between nodes. I really like the idea of little chibi ships following the Belles.

I'm amused people are expanding on the things I noted. I absolutely love the mention of building up secondary fleets (more than 1, or 4) that you could send your idling fleets out on. No use having idling Belles when you can send them out to do things for you. If they're able, I want to them to do stuff. Don't do what KanColle does by only having 6 in a fleet of 4. If we have them, we should use ALL or MOST of them. Basically what our resources allows us to use.

But ya, I love the idea of having supply ships ferrying your supplies from one base to another. It would bring another element I have always desired in KanColle, and similar games. If possible, I'd even configure HMCS Prince Robert, HMCS Prince David, & HMCS Prince Henry to be my supply ships (instead of troops, more like resources) that they could even follow my fleet around, or have their very own convoy going on. It would make the bases you build more useful, as well as bring more life to your maps. Instead of going for NG+, you'd keep your world for as long as you'd desire.

And ya, Morgana should react accordingly to our actions & vice-versa. Same thing being said for base defense & offense that we should use Belles for both offense & defense seeing a posting of how Morgana attack our base.
