DCid 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2017 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-02-10-valve-is-removing-steam-greenlight-this-spring Rumors about Greenlight being shutdown has been circulating for what seems like years now. However, Steam has now confirmed that Greenlight is being shutdown and will be replaced with something called Steam Direct. One of the most important bits in the article happens to be a fee of between $200 to $5000 per game submitted to Steam. It also sounds like Steam plans to use this fee to deter abhorrent games from getting on Steam.

DCid 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 That per game fee is the big game changer. If they figure out a good price point that doesn't scare off indie devs and manage to deter abhorrent developers... I may never have to lay eyes on another Trump game. Seeing one annoyed me enough to get an emotional response out of me. I'm autistic... My emotional state is normally flat-lined. Hardly any highs unless its something that interests me... Occasional lows. Suicidal depression and panic attacks... But normally... I don't care about anything unless it lines up with my interests. Politics and video games happen to be two of those things. Schwarzbart 1,063 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 In my eyes greenlight was more interesting to see what is in the pipeline then any gaming news webpage, at last if you could restrict your self to 2 or 3 genre. Maybe they should just restrict the up-votes to 2-3x more then the games the account have spend money on, but its to late now for such ideas.
freespace2dotcom 1,029 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 So does this affect Academagia? Certainly future years will be, but I'd hope that Y1 will still be able to squeeze by because it would be unbearable if we got screwed out of this after waiting for so long. Schwarzbart 1,063 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 Academagia Y1 already got Greenlight so I doubt it will be affected.
Legate of Mineta 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2017 As far as we know, it's unaffected. Once the beta is complete, we'll launch officially.
Albert 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2017 Year 2 then?
freespace2dotcom 1,029 Report post Posted February 20, 2017 "We'll cross that bridge when we get there" I'm sure. By the time Y2 is done, there may be another bridge there, lol.
Schwarzbart 1,063 Report post Posted February 20, 2017 Even if BCS not manage to get Year 2 to Steam they still could announce Year 2 in the year 1 forum and news. Also there is always the trick to sell it as DLC But I doubt there will be problems to get Year 2 to Steam if Year 1 sells reasonable.
Legate of Mineta 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2017 And thus far, the cost isn't so prohibitive that we wouldn't consider it. I guess we'll have to see!
