UI Questions

Recommended Posts

While the UI of the steam version is admittedly a huge improvement for those of us who are used to the old one (though I do think it was prettier), I'd wager that there's still a few issues for new and old players alike. So, let's swap knowledge here! I'll start:

This is a holdover from the old UI, but in all the hours I've poured into Academagia, I've never been able to figure what the five buttons on the left-hand side of the 'Confirmation Orders' window do. I had thought them nonfunctional, tbh, but in that case, why weren't they removed during the revamp?

Does anyone know anything about this?

They serve absolutely no function whatsoever. You can click on them, they highlight once they're clicked on IIRC, but I never noticed them doing anything.

Well, that's disappointing. I'd hoped they might be a QoL feature that I hadn't figured out yet, something like saving a specific action or similar. Maybe they should be taken out, in that case.

The only thing I think still gnaws at me on the new version is the inventory screen is still not resized for older monitors. I do agree that the old UI was indeed prettier, and had a more simplistic approach which was more... Solid? Stable?/ Less things could go wrong in any rate.

You can use them to save and load actions from the Confirmation Orders right panel.

Each one saves/loads the morning, afternoon, and evening actions for a day.

For example, you typically have the following actions (Attend Class, Adventure, Adventure). Once on Confirmation Orders, you can click the arrow to save those actions.

At the end of that turn, for the next day - go to Confirm Orders, then click the half circle part to load those same actions.

This doesn't quite seem to work. I can save the layout for a day, but once I am in the Confirmation Orders menu for the next day, I am unable to actually load that layout in. All I can do is overwrite the slot. Am I doing something wrong? This sounds really useful.

EDIT: Yeah, I've found the issue. It doesn't overwrite the 'Attend Class' action. This means it's usually only useful for weekends, or those playthroughs where I actually attend lectures. ^^ Thanks for clearing that up though, Fan! Would it be possible to change it to overwrite Attend Class in an update?

Add that to the list of things the game maybe, possibly, potentially, probably should have explained at some point.

Just maybe. :)

What I do is I change the "Attend Class" action, to something else on the list - and then get the Load Actions to overwrite in the planning confirmation. It isn't quite what you are asking for, but it is a quick(ish) fix in the mean time.

Yeah, that works, but it somewhat defeats the point. I mean it does save the specifics of the action, but much of the convenience the feature could provide is lost. Thanks for the advice, though. Maybe it will be in the next patch, that'd be nice.

Edit: Actually, on further testing, it doesn't save the specifics of the Action (things like Train ->Theory of Negation). Well, it does, but only for the day you save it on. So you can save the preset with specifics, change everything back to rest, confirm and when you load the preset in the specifics are still there.

But if you then advance to the next day and load in the preset, the specifics are gone again. Would be nice if that could be changed as well.
