Old "Patches, Hot Fixes" Thread

Consolidated Patch 4 and Content Patch 1 has been released, and can be found here:

 

Instructions: Copy all files and place into your Academagia install folder (same folder as Academagia.exe). For example: C:\Program Files\Academagia\Mods\Content.mdm (Please overwrite all files.)

Important: You must begin a new game in order to make use of the Content Patch. When you begin a new game, simply check 'Content Package' under mods, and proceed. Existing games using the Content Patch are unaffected.

 

Before you Install: Patch 4 does not require you to create a new game, but if you wish to have certain fixes, you will need to create a new one. This Patch is cumulative with all previous Patches.

 

This Patch adds these features:

 

1) Astrology effects now appear in your Abilities, so you can see what those stars are actually doing to your destiny

2) The Character's Room now has a Description

3) Locations which do not have Passive Abilities no longer appear in the list of Preparation Locations

 

...and covers these issues:

 

1) You can now Train your Familiar's Bond Skills again

2) Actors no longer reset if you use an Investigation

3) The problem with inherited Targets in Rolls has been corrected

4) Expand Skill Maximum now should correctly Expand the Maximum...not Minimum

5) Certain Effects which were not raising Familiar Bond Sub-Skills are now able to do so again

6) Random Locations within a Region now are appropriately random

7) Prerequisites for Items now function more correctly

8) A crash related to the use of Astrology has been fixed

9) Explore no longer allows you to choose a Preparation Location

10) Certain Increase Effects now allow the Player to make choices

11) Research Topics no longer require a Visit. Instead, they only need Information about the Location

Hi!

 

It would be great to be able to increase the size fonts by other means, as my laptop has no numpad.

Also it would be nice to see in-game with which version you are playing right now. Impulse says an update is available for Version 1.031, however I have already updated it with Patch4. This is a bit confusing.

You can use some cursor keys for that also - either up-down or right-left, can't remember now. Try it.

Ack, I'm having the same issue with this patch that I had with the last one. Overwriting all files removes my game's ability to detect the content patch. Deleting the mods folder and reapplying the patch does not fix the issues this time, however.

 

Edit: On a hunch, I started the game via running as Administrator and that seemed to clear up the issue. *sighs*

by-the-way;

 

You can use either the + (increase) or - (decrease) symbol on the numpad, or the left (decrease) and right (increase) arrow keys (not the ones on the numpad)- both do work on our local test machines.

 

You will need at least Patch 3 in order to use this functionality.

Im a little confused about where I need to copy the patch to. I have an academagia folder , this is where my academagia exe. is located. Though it isnt called that. There is also an official content folder which contains both media and resource folders.....so which would i install it to?

Users of Content Patch 1: You will need to clear your cache before beginning a new game. To do this, (depending on your OS) navigate to

C:\ProgramData\Academagia\Cache

or

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Academagia\Cache

and delete the files within. This will force your game to initialize Content.mdm again.

Important: You must begin a new game in order to make use of the DLC. When you begin a new game, simply check 'The Honor of Mallen Field' under mods, and proceed.

 

Before you Install: Patch 5 does not require you to create a new game, but if you wish to have certain fixes, you will need to create a new one. This Patch is cumulative with all previous Patches.

Note that this release contains a program (AMTempFilesCleaner.exe) in the root directory which you can use to clean your computer of excess Temporary Files created by Academagia. You should only use this file if you created many games using the Content Patch 1 mod, or often reloaded your games using that mod. It only needs to be run once, and thereafter no extra Temporary Files should be created.

 

This Patch adds these features:

 

1) New Exits for Pamela in the End Story

2) New Background Options are available

3) 6 new Adventures

4) 23 new Random Events

5) 1 new Skill

6) 1 new Merchant

7) Many new Abilities, Actions, Locations, Spells and Items

8) Creativity Skill now has Skill Perks

9) Curiosity now Informs all Explore Skills

10) Detention Skills now appear in the Instructor's Descriptions

11) Merchants and Catalogs now explicitly say what they are in their Title

12) Black Sheep can no longer Correspond

13) The Schohanwicht School has been reworked and a clear path beginning from a Background established in order to gain access

14) You are no longer able to complete the same Adventure multiple times in a Day

15) Discovery Stories now properly appear only the first time you visit the Location, whether you succeed or no

16) The Research Action no longer allows a choice of Preparation Location, as you must go to the Location of the Topic

17) Saved Games are now sorted by date

18) The Clock Button on the End of the Day report now greys out upon click, to better show that you have clicked it

19) The End of the Day report will now show when Effects fail due to Maximum Skill Level, Relationship or Study Level

20) The Preparation Location Selection Window has been replaced with a much more informative version

 

...and covers these issues:

 

1) Ilario and Orso Adventure Prerequisites have been reviewed

2) Create Wondrous Poem is now less wondrous to Students

3) Duplicate Lores were removed

4) Explore Action Threshold is now correctly 0

5) Cat Burglar Gloves no longer go bad

6) Question Knowledge

7) Listen Attentively vs. Leading Conversation

8) Alan Driscoll's Clique Ability is slightly more Charming

9) Arcadius' Kissed Lyre

10) Fill the Night with Stars is now a bit less explosive

11) The Athletic Fields

12) Calomantia's Gym: Athletics Room

13) Deed: Town and Familiar moved to enable effects for chosen Familiar

14) Tutorial Adventure 14 Investigation now much easier to truly succeed at

15) Esteban Contu's School slightly reworked

16) Stress Lore updated

17) Introductory Letter now has correct Exits for non-Pamela Familiars

18) Yost's Resort reworked

19) DELETE Skill reference removed from Tutorial Adventure

20) Civil Law no longer sends you to Upright Offerings immediately upon unlock

21) Vernin's Grand Forge renamed to be more explicit

22) Merit Prize XXXV is now automatically applied

23) Hidden Pockets reworked

24) Dance of Fools Sewing Exit now unlocks Sewing if failed

25) Cultivate may now be used

26) The Broom may now be used

27) Rags and Aprons may now be used

28) Big. Piece. Of. Wood. may now be used

29) Herald's Whisker may now be Equipped

30) Meteorite may now be Equipped

31) Teach Pheme now allows a Choice

32) A rare crash associated with the Stalking Ability has been corrected

33) Increase Bonus Effects now work as intended

34) Phemes no longer disappear when adding extra ones to Spells

35) Training Modifiers can now effect particularly difficult to learn Skills

36) A problem with selecting an actor from a specific Class has been resolved

37) Significant Random Event Chances now operate correctly

38) Vistitation Rights now correctly apply

39) Temporary files related to new game creation with mods are now handled better

It seems to replace the old mod file (I cannot choose that one anymore when I start a new game)

That is as intended?

 

And is the new skill a new subskill or parentskill with it's own collection of subskills?
