Abilities, Actions, Spells - Oh My!

Recommended Posts

I have a stupid question.

What is the essential difference between an Action and an active Ability?

For that matter, what's the differences between Action, Abilities and Spells?

Why was it designed this way? What are the rules? Is it just an interface convenience?

Woe;

It was originally designed that Actions were your general toolset, available to most Characters, and were the most standard varieties of its kind. Abilities, on the other hand, were more specialized, generally had to be earned or unlocked, and represented special knowledge or innate talent.

There's been some blurring of the lines over time, but that's it in a nutshell.

Thanks, but are any guide lines still true? Are all actions independent of location or something?

Will any of the patches try and bring it back some of the original design?

Oh, and have you considered writing a post-mortem on how you built and designed the game? 'cause that would be awesome. :)

Actions and Spells are independent of locations, so they are convenient for making the most out of location's passive abilities.

Only a few of Abilities are independent of locations, but in return most of abilities got double the SS gained or benefits.

Woe;

Actions are definitely independent of Location.

It would be fun to write a post-mortem, but that will have to come later- first, the improvements, DLC and design work for Year 2. :(

A post-mortem (preferably around 150 pages, illustrated, signed, hardcover) would sweet! Can we pre-order it already?
