A few in game questions

Legate, what is your favorite magic, and why?

Also, If Gates magic at least was once as stable as any other magic, and it is not 'corrosive' like Mastery is, I would very much like to know the reasons for the early bans on it.

The lores say that a lot of injuries/ deaths came through friendly forces as summons became uncontrollable, thus causing the tide of favor to turn. I can see that as a reason to ban a certain subset, but not the whole. Obviously there is a lot that we don't know.

Also, is Basia more focused on being thhe best in Aranaz, or the whole school? I'm screwed either way, but I'm curious on her mindset, and whether I can reason with her in Y2 or if I'm gonna have to use force.

Finally, Y2? any news? If the wait goes on much longer i'm gonna forget which student is which!

Maybe our planet/dimension changes "address" over time similar to how earth revolves around the sun, then being at the wrong location destabilizes the magic for a lengthy period and then suddenly it's safe again when the location is favorable. Or maybe some object/phenomenon is interfering in certain periods returning in a cyclical way.

That could explain bans/unbans.

My favorite? Hmmm. Out of what's in Y1, I guess I like Gates. But then, I also know a bit more about it...;)

They seem to be related to mages of that time being non-specific when summoning, and bringing in unpleasant things by accident. Obviously, the Lores are talking specifically about battle, but these kinds of occurrences were strictly limited to warfare...

First Aranaz, and then the University. :)

"Finally, Y2? any news? If the wait goes on much longer i'm gonna forget which student is which!"

Haha! No, not yet. :)

1) The Team hasn't yet begun the effort (still some troubleshooting), but it will be an interesting problem.

2) It hasn't been finalized, but at the moment, it's -1. For Dream: several Characters have special rules. :)

3) There's still debate. At the moment, no change is intended retroactively, even if the performance was poor. However, that will galvanize them to do better in Y2.

That is...not comforting news.

As for Basia I think it'll be a matter of balancing her hatred with those who cheated did better than she did against her inability to do anything in Y2 because she suddenly has a dozen enemies on her case. Come to think of it, what happens if I were to sabotage Basia's scores (through Pheme de-buffing and/or Wrath of the Comet's Face-ing her into the infirmary the day of the exam) so that she's at the bottom of all her classes? Would her AI go insane and have her study every waking moment that she's not being pounded into the Infirmary by like half of her year's classmates?

Legate:

1: How effective are the average self protection negation spells against an active attempt of sombody using mastery to control someone?

2. Is there a mineta city pound? and generally what is done about stray animals in the city?

3. Given that turning stuff like lead into gold is possible, which was the primary focus of alchemists back in the day, what does the word alchemy mean within the setting?

4. When did the establishment of pillars as separate magical studies come to pass, and do any old professors feel that studying in that way limits magic?

5. Given the intelligence of familiars. have there ever been cases wjere friendships amongst familiars causing friendships amongst their wizard companions?

6. Is it possible for an Emperor to come from someone other than a line of kings? and who would be likely to be considered candiidates for the position besides the Aunish king if the debate became open again?

7. Who is widely considered the wealthiest person in Mineta? (whether that may be 100% accurate is doubtfull. It's not like any 'top richest people' lists today have any rockefellers in it and I'm sure there's a reason for that. ;) I'm merely asking for the well known rich ones.

8. In the dangers of romance lore, where mastery is involved, it's said the the kid who initially started the mess studied mastery because his incantation studies weren't enough to satiate his curiosity. If a student like my character who is an omni-in-training wound up learning from all the accepted pillars, and was seen complaining about it all being too easy, would that set off any alarms?

9, I think it was mentioned that enchantment is the field that requires the most money due to the need for ingredients to make magical items a lot less temporary. Is enchantment mostly unique in that field, and also, since Schohanwicht is a gates school, how do they do enchanting for their own items?

10. Does the council of the sky only reguiate rain? or weather in general? How does one get permission to make rain? And also, would creating a lot of magical water on the ground and sending it elsewhere through the sky violate the weather rule? I really don't want to run afoul of them, or really have any dealings with them at all, so where does the boundary on their regulations begin so that I may avoid doing anything close to bring their wrath on me.

1: How effective are the average self protection negation spells against an active attempt of sombody using mastery to control someone?

Decently effective, even in the average case, as Mastery can be difficult for more complex people, such as those that study magic.

2. Is there a mineta city pound? and generally what is done about stray animals in the city?

There isn't, and stray animals wander, for the most part, free. Periodically, the City calls upon enterprising individuals to keep populations down using bounties.

3. Given that turning stuff like lead into gold is possible, which was the primary focus of alchemists back in the day, what does the word alchemy mean within the setting?

Getting stuff to stay as gold. :)

4. When did the establishment of pillars as separate magical studies come to pass, and do any old professors feel that studying in that way limits magic?

They are a very old philosophical construct, dating, it's said, from the teachings of the Dragons. Over the centuries, Pillars have come and gone (Orthography being the most obvious example), but most professors agree they need structure to teach. You might need a *younger* professor, if you want back up on limitations. ;)

5. Given the intelligence of familiars. have there ever been cases wjere friendships amongst familiars causing friendships amongst their wizard companions?

Yep!

6. Is it possible for an Emperor to come from someone other than a line of kings? and who would be likely to be considered candiidates for the position besides the Aunish king if the debate became open again?

Just the Auncish Kings have the divine bloodline, which is a requirement for the Imperial throne.

7. Who is widely considered the wealthiest person in Mineta? (whether that may be 100% accurate is doubtfull. It's not like any 'top richest people' lists today have any rockefellers in it and I'm sure there's a reason for that. ;) I'm merely asking for the well known rich ones.

Hmmmmm. Certain families are known to be wealthy, but inviting that kind of competition is dangerous, to say the least. Only Kings have the security to really boast their wealth...

It would depend on the instructors...and, of course, how much simple jealousy existed. ;)

9, I think it was mentioned that enchantment is the field that requires the most money due to the need for ingredients to make magical items a lot less temporary. Is enchantment mostly unique in that field, and also, since Schohanwicht is a gates school, how do they do enchanting for their own items?

Enchantment is mostly unique- Gates can cost money, but not necessarily so.

Weather in general- typically, you can't get permission. Instead, they offer contracts to create weather. On student days (days when Academagia students are allowed to try to create weather under supervision and to a contract), most citizens wisely prepare for the...unexpected.

11. Any news what requirments the year 2 class will have that need more then one skill at a high level?

Not yet!

1) What school(s) of magic are cable of weather magic? (Incantation & Revision probably)

2) At what year a Academagia student can learn weather magic at earliest? Is it maybe one of the extra class in year 2 already?

3) There are spirits and other non human beings that change the weather how are they dealt with from the council of the sky?

4) Are there restrictions from the council of the sky for crafting items that can affect the weather or is it just for their use?

So at what point does creating a mist to escape attackers get called "creating fog illegally" by the council.

I think they have too much power, even if they may or may not excersize it.

1) Given how good the player can create the illusion of a party in year 1, are there rooms or even buildings that fulfil every wish of the people entering it but everything is just a glamor limited to the place?

2) Would something crafted out of glamour materials actual work for the duration the glamour hold? (I.e. a potion)

1. About how much time does orsi put into the school compared to his predecessors?

2. Are there any interesting cultural phenomenons revolving around the passing of eclipses? (non-magical, or at least indirectly magical)

3. Are there any types of pan-empire games comparing to the olympics? (of ancient times more than the modern version)

4. As far as common blacksmithing goes, would there be any items made in setting that would not be seen in real life?

5. Can you get into any more detail on faerie courts beyond the general desire to lump them into either dark or light versions? What ties does the fairy/sprite familiar have to any such courts?

6. Is it against school policy for students to do research on past students? (particularly past students who died on campus.)

7. What would the school (or faculty) say was the most dangerous thing about studying magic? I suppose it would be no dangerous than many other occupations, (if not infinitely cooler) but I am curious if parents might not want their kids studying magic because of the life that some wizards might be expected to live.

8. Revision seems to tie into Gates the same way that Glamour ties into Mastery. (I expect the radical Revision program at the Academagia has been introducing a few phemes that lie in the grey area between the two.) Has it been observed that practicers of one of these 'pairs' of magic pillars are more robust than a mage who only learned one side of the pair? (IE, is the reason for the twisting path because it made them better Gates mages overall?)

9. What do the legends say of ancient Gates wizards? (back before the bans) would you say they were considered eccentric? (even more than magic users in general are in any setting, anyway :))

10. Has a duel at the academagia ever caused a death?

11. Do non magical duels (of the historical, decisively more deadly kind) happen in setting?
