I like how both of those two have a negative relationship with Philippe. Does he not recognise a demi-god when he punches one in the face?

Clearly not

Interestingly one was duel 9, the other 10, both had all legal magic classes 10, and both had athletics 9 or 10 from recollection - I'd have expected their reputation to deter casual bullying (I suspect its an engine limitation, or he's the jealous type) The temptation to pound Philippe was fairly high, but I didn't have the skill to pick a duel. Also, Philippe has one (two?) older borthers at school so pounding him could get unfortunate.

Sadly I didn't get to rebuild one's reputation with the headmaster after calling in a favour, which was a shame. Both however should provide a solid base for yr 2, unless the skipping class punishment is insane - since neither ever got a reprimand for skipping class though I'm going with the profs only taking register in the morning and otherwise not caring unless they see bloodshed or embarrassment for the school, I can't see the professors waiting a year to punish anyone for doing something they disapprove of.

I haven't finished all the colleges yet, I'm trying to write some more of St Pai's Petitioners, I'd hoped for help from Paz but they're abruptly MIA :(

AI in this game will never cease to amaze. It's random to the point where sometimes it does something so ingenious you're not sure whether it achieved sentience when you weren't looking. Same with the RNG being a troll to the point I question whether it's achieved Nirvana.

For Paz...yeah. The Legate informed the forum admin, so if that issue can be fixed it's hopefully just a matter of time.

Because my current char use 2 wands to get to a very high revision score I think we need to limit the number of wand that give their bonus at one time to 1.

I doubt we learn to use 2 wand at the same time but could be funny to see a master mage drawing pheme with 2 wands at the same time.

It would definitely make specialised wands more useful if you only get the bonus of the one with the higher bonus in the skill you're using.. Not sure if it's worth the bother though. (I wouldn't want the next game to take even longer to get completed ;) )

Schwarzbart;

Two wands can still be used, but as you'll see that case is handled a bit different.

Are we there yet? :) (Year 2)

Can't wait to see all that new stuff :) I also find it hard to imagine how magical defences will work in later years. How will you be fast enough to use Negation to counter an attack?

There was an event in year one where you could stop hostile attacks from affecting you when you accidentally wantered into a duel between two young students.

How did you manage to be fast enough if it requiers several Phemes to cast a spell? Or did our character use alternate abilities to "absorb" the attacks?

I think one piece of lore sugested an alternate defence where you somehow absorb the attack, another where you could sustitute a pheme in the attackign spell and break it or something. Can't remember where it was. But there was some kind of lore on advanced Negation and alternate defences.

Likely what our favrite Negation Professor/Regent did when she defended against those attacks on the wall, both from the wizard and the Dragon.

Some kind of reaction based defence?

Typically, it would be something you prepared in advance. I *think* for that one, that's the assumption.

How about reaction avoidance? Flawless timing, dodging fireballs, redirecting them with your wand or even hands... Maybe it would require extreme speed and skill.

In Carnage on the fields, or whatever the Adventure was called this aggressor that you could throw a fireball at would just slap asside your next attack. Was that part of some kind of already activated defence that just required some additional input or something?

The first attack did make contact when he was caught unprepared and he never cast anything until after that second attack.

Or maybe his hands had a special enchantment that allowed him to block/redirect magical attacks using flawless timing? A special defensive spell? Maybe?

(Offensive)Casters spell skill roll VS (Defensive)Flawless timing? It would make for an interesting combat roll.

A wizards magic skills would most likely be greater than their flawless timing, but sometimes the defending wizard would time and angle the defensive reaction right. Especially against less experienced opponents.

The people in that Adventure were far more experienced and older, so it made sense if he automatical suceeded the roll once he became aware of his new attacker.

The first attack couldn't fail because it was a surprise attack and flawless timing requiers planning to work.

It would be nice if combat was more than just hurling the biggest spell at your opponent, and pray that your precast defenses were the right ones.

My last character bought those "Fashionable dueling gloves" I would love to add one of those enchantments to a pair of such gloves. In my mind it would be even more stylish, perhaps add +1 to Flawless timing in the enchantment. Wasn't there such a Pheme? Or maybe Emboss the Pheme for Flawless timing... That would be quite stylish. (In my mind that is)

Sounds interesting :)

Earlier it also sounded like more unconventional solutions or approaches might be possible to a situation.

I really hope you can release it soon (Can I Beta test it? :D ) Just testing the new combat system would be interesting ;)

But I guess it isn't happening yet.

I'm guessing what makes Academagia great is also what makes it take so much time to complete. All those stories, the details, the many skills and possibilities. Wish I could do more to help ;)

I guess we will also be learning new spells and new Phemes that are more advanced and perhaps also harder to use. (as our skills get more advanced)

So, maybe there will be more advanced two or three pheme spells that are more powerful, as fast to cast as the easier spells that take two or three phemes. But they do more damage or got a stronger effect but you require the knowledge to know about them and to sucessfully cast them.

So, I guess that would make sense. A more powerful spell would also be harder to block with a weak negation I'm guessing. Then we got both the Shield pheme to strengthen defences, and the pierce pheme to bypass defences. So, I guess I shouldn't be too worried about the potential for future growth potential. The sky might be the theoretical limit. It might not be all about the amount of phemes, but rather what phemes and what spell.

Also, is there a spell that can cure "Prevent Hostility"? I think that spell reduced the targets Hostile action chance by 95%... It's pretty much game over in a duel if that hits and you can't rub it off.

Some kind of beneficial dispell or cure spell? Resting doesn't seem to be an option in a duel. I might have missed the spell if it exists... There are just so many spells out there.

Even though I take Glamour class, I don't know much about professor Ringraeyer outside of her description and what I learn skulking about in the modtools. Although a Glamour class adventure would be nice, I know that's a pain to write, so what about adding in some ability tied to a location instead? Kind of like you have professor Sido and Leith's back Offices. She is actually the only professor of my standard classes that I have difficulty raising relationships with (I'm sorry, "Favor") I think that would go a long way to giving non-Hedi students something to learn about her. Maybe it could even be non-Glamour related since she seems to be more than meets the eye, as so many of the Academagia's professors tend to be...

How about give a glamour and gate or glamour and incantation specialist the ability to find out about phantom magic in a later year to give glamour real substance?

Sounds like a star trek holodeck thing ;)

They look real, they feel real, but are they real?

@albert Because you have to control all the effects your self or program the illusion at the time of casting its much simpler as you don't have the high-tech computer behind it.

But anyway if the team implement it I really would jump on it with many chars as it add some nice effects you otherwise only can get via gate magic but without the downsides.

I can just look at the instructor's horror as multiple physically real Ana Flavias start walking around. Even if they couldn't use magic the idea that they just *might* would cause rioting just outside the Legate's office to ban that kind of magic with the Academy.

Well, a copy of my character could be created to be sent on a "meeting" that you expect to be a trap.

If it's not a trap then all is good, if it turns out to be a trap, then the joke is on your opponent and you got the jump on them as they just expended whatever surprise they had for you, on "solidified hologram".

That could create a nice plot twist in quite a few plots, if it could be applied.

Just imagine tricking one of those dragons into hunting one of those things if you get into trouble. Perhaps even trick them into thinking you're dead so they forget about you.

It might work even better if there are a lot of other distractions about.

Sounds interesting, at the risk of sounding too powerful. It could also be a lot of fun I'm thinking.

Just imagine if you could make copies of just about anyone... Maybe there should be a limit against copying existing people? Some kind of "divine intervention" similar to the "you can't summon people" limit? If there was one of those.

You could still be allowed to duplicate yourself since you own the right to your own form. Animals, and non-existing imagined people.

Otherwise you could get people like Philippe put into perma detentions and kicked out of school, by making evil twins of them that does your bidding.

Or Professors!

Difficulty wise that sounds like post-graduation stuff. Like "anyone powerful enough to accomplish that is so powerful s/he doesn't need to care" level-stuff, even.

It would probably be easier to craft a physical enchanted lifesized doll with glamours and the ability to follow your commands.

That would requier more effort and materials, but probably less advanced knowledge. Still I wouldn't expect it to be that easy. You would have to be a pretty good and driven student I'm thinking to make it believable.

Just waving your wand to create something like that should probably be harder. But it does sound fun, though that means a lot of people could do it and that would be a total mess.

I guess it's up to the team :)

Those Glamours are just illusions, very easy to detect and break. The only reason you get away with it (on a successful roll, at least) is I imagine because no one cares to double-check whether you're actually that student.

They most likely didn't expect that level of trickery or competence. Yes of course, my student could cast a small sell to peak through one such glamour on one occasion. Negation I think.

A very high Observation should be able to notice imperfections in the illusion aswell, like shadows and other minor details.
