I think it was more for that personal touch thing. If you wanted to look like a student you could cast a premade spell, but if you wanted to look like someone specific you'd have to work on the ideal... - or something. I'm speculating.

- and my food is burning. :o

Maybe a Vendetta adventure where you could frame your opponent and get him/her into a lot of trouble with the teachers and the other students?

Maybe by creative plotting, strategy, tactics, glamours. Maybe some gossip to make it seem more belivable, and as a crowning achivement a selfigniting note that tells your enemy to be at a specific location at a specific time!! Right on time to get framed ;)

Then your enemy get's reprimands, detentions and two or three students that realy hates him/her plus a whole lot of stress! And maybe some professor agro!

Hmmm! I haven't heard of this before- thanks! I'll send your report over to the Team.

I doubt a lot of people worked on their diplomacy or Heraldry skills to the point where they get that ability :P

That character is set to become the next emperor :P Masterdiplomat, strategist and peopleperson with wealthy nobility and royal bloodlines in the family... If possible ;) (Probably won't be but, yeah, I'll make it my headcannon for that character/student ;) )

I think my primary two suggestions would be this:

#1) More options to USE Gates and/or Mastery! Adventures are the meat of the game, so it can be a bit disappointing to discover that you can almost never flex your forbidden muscles in them. Discreet use of the forbidden arts could provide some interesting alternative solutions. The capacity for teleportation in Gates in particular strikes me as pretty utilitarian.

#2) More (viable) options to develop your Familiar. The Familiar system feels a bit unfinished right now. Unless you've taken Zoology as a course or at least trained it so thoroughly that you get Improved Familiar Handling, improving your Familiars skills is always hideously impractical as it stands. Improved Familiar Handling almost makes it competitive, with the ability to train four familiar skills at once, but even then you have the problem of your Familiars attributes being kind of mediocre and hard to increase. There's very little motivation to ever train or use your familiar when you could instead train yourself.

Edit: On the point of number two, I think my suggestion would be some kind of system wherein a higher level of Bond lets your Familiar use your own attributes in place of its own (your Finesse, Fitness, etc) to some degree or another, so that the Familiar doesn't fall behind in usefulness quite so much.

Fiaryn;

For Gates and Mastery, I believe there will be more opportunities to use it...however, fair warning: the consequences for their use will also grow...

Familiars will be expanding quite a bit in Year 2, so that even Players that do not invest too much time in their Familiar can have fun with him or her. That said, if you really want a powerful Familiar, or a Familiar with a lot of utility, you'll still need to invest considerable time into it.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Will we be mentoring a new student in the second year at the start of the year? Like part of the starter event for the second year? Taking the role Oan had in year 1? Despite the fact that she was a third year student most of the mentors are 2 years as I understood it.

Secondly, I was thinking, maybe a familiar talent show?

Also in duels it would be nice if you could bring up a list of spells, sort them accoding to school, difficulty and type, aswell as what phemes you will need on your palette. Maybe some mechanic to help you pick phemes for certain spells. Hopefully the mechanic will be the same for the familiar :)

And maybe the option to add an extra pheme for an extra effect.

A good dueling system could make dueling fun during adventures, though the process of picking phemes and findign spells didn't make it easy to use the dueling system. I ended up beating Joana up with my fists since it seemed simpler :P Luckily she wanted a closerange fistfight and that made it simple and even my familiar was able to punch her.

This makes me wonder, are they no defences against puches? Defensive skills? Maybe competition or wrestling?

Yes, if you have good enough grades, and are respected by the Instructors.

Hahaha, cool idea.

Sorting, in general, needs to be improved, we agree. You may see extra Phemes in Year 2, but we'll see. :)

Yeah, there are some defenses coming, both magical and otherwise.

"Apart from that fact that teleporation, as Elumian mages understand it, is pretty random, it's not considered dangerous."

...

*cough*

considering that a random teleport might send you over the island edge or into the ground (or just into a door! Think if your hand got permanently attached to a door!)... Not saying that the process of teleporting isn't relatively safe, but... ouch.

Still, some wands seem to be working as intended. And, it would seem, are legal. That said, I am going shopping in the Occult Shop, I hear they got scented black candles on sale!

Now I wondering if this is just all talk to prefent People to studie this kind of magic even if they would have some source to learn it. ^^

But sure selfteached gate "masters" probably will have more problems with the apearent existing randomnes of the Gate effects then People who actual get some formal education in this kind of magic.

Gates knowledge also seems to have the ability to solve trouble caused by bad gates magic. Like unsummoning dangerous creatures/sending them back to where they came from.

Tbh it would help if the school had a special secret gates specialist force that has studdied gates and possibly even Mastery so they can keep the dangerous gates and Mastery users at bay. They would also be experts at recognizing, countering and tracking such magic since they know what to look for.

If you are looking for WMD's then you need WMD experts, if youre looking to control the use of other dangerous practices then you need people (responsible people with good selfcontrol) to watch out for trouble. Maybe a small group of schoolars with secret imperial licences to practice with the purpose of maintaining imperial law. ? Like secret agents? It could be one of the greatest of Imperial and Academagia secrets. One that only Orso Orsi knows of, or perhaps not even him?!? He might just know half the truth, that there are government officials watching the student's and faculty, though he might not know of their true capabilities except that they are skilled wizard posing as visiting alumni and most of the time hiding in plain sight.

A MIB type of organization :P Truemasters of the proscribed arts that works to keep this potentialy dangerous knowledge from lesser minds and lesser wizard's who can't control it or who might fall for temptation. At the same time they are conducting research to ensure they stay on the top of the proscribed food chain. There was that event where a wizard had lost a very exotic gates pet, and was teleporting around effortlessly and porting his bookeating pet back home with the flick of his arm. Maybe he was one of them?

Not quite correct. :)

So when I used gates knowledge to unsummon that wind beast thing at the gates stones, where did it go if it didn't go home? The pet of the old gods? Did I send it home or did I accidentaly send it to the legates office to give him a good scare? :P

In chase you ever do a "Gold" Version of year 1 a nice Idea would be if you finished a year 1 game after the autosave it have the ability to call year 2 with this autosave.

Something like a Button "Direct continue to year 2" at the start of the Questions at the end when Year 2 is installed.

Sure this needs year 2 to accept commandline whit the name of the save it should start and year 1 need the ability to find year 2 (or year 2 set a ini file where it is to find when it is installed)
