How do you get Befriend ability?

How does a character, whco does not start with it, get the Befriend ability?

 

After speaking with the mentor, my most recent character got the necessary 3 subabilities of Befried. However training those subabilities to get a non zero Befriend level, did not unlock it.

 

The current manual does not note that many subabilities are missing at the start of the game and cannot be trained until found.

I believe the easiest way to get Befriend and all Sub-Skills is to train Social Skills. From memory, I think at level 2 you are informed about them.

I got Befriend and its subskills at level 0, from the MENTOR quest. Raising them did not unlock the ability.

I just launched a new game. You can get the Action 'Befriend' by Training your Social Skills Skill (under School Survival) to level 2.

Somehow I missed out on befriend for long portion of game, despite having befriend at level 6! I had to find it by 'Question Surroundings'!

 

Must be because I was part of Morvidus along with Philip! Start out without ability to make friends!

This is interesting, because it seems that some people miss this one. School Survival Skills are exactly that: they hold the tools you need to operate on campus. That said, it is a bit non-intuitive that the Befriend Skill won't let you actually Befriend.
