hecquaro
To the lottery If it is possible to put prerequisites on events: Prerequisite Have a relation level of 3 with a student. Alternative prerequisite Befriend >2 Main event "Psssssst!" The whisper, as stealthy as a trampling elephant, nearly makes you jump out of your uniform. That is, if your elbow had not been caught and pulled in an adjacent classroom. Once you recover from your shock, you let your eyes follow the curve of your elbow, the hand gripping it, up along the arm and straight into the face of @Random student with friendship of 3 or more@ [Thereafter referred as @friend@]. Recognizing him/her, you relax. "What is it?" you ask, praying the gods to avoid a replay of your last adventure together, literally a "crashing success". "It's the lottery, my friend! Time to double up your hard earned Pims!". As it turns out, after a lengthy explanation, there is a... ahem... non official lottery regularly organized by @random Vernin student@. As it is on invitation only, you had not been aware of it, but your @friend@ is now asking for you to come, as his/her +1. "We both know you're the cream of the crop" he/she says, "that way I know I'll end up rich!". Whatever. Besides, it's not like you're not a little bit curious, who wouldn't be! Once you arrive over there, the rules are explained very succintely: -One big wheel, with labels going from "lose" to "win x 5". -10 Pims will buy you a roll of the wheel. -If you say anything about this to anyone, you're history. Everything seems pretty clear, especially the last part. do you... Exit 1 OPTION TEXT Pass. I'm not going to play my hard earned Pims in some wanabee casino. I'm out. SUCCESS TEXT You have a look. Have a second look. The hardest decision is whether to leave now or wait for your @friend@. You decide to wait, this will be instructional. As you could have predicted, he/she loses 30 Pims before deciding it's enough. After a last heartwarming threat, the to of you take off, on the sound of your @friend@ swearing he regain double his loss next time. As far as you're concerned, he'll probably end the year owned by Vernin... EFFECTS -1 step in gamble +1 step in reason Exit 2 OPTION TEXT Pure luck. So this is how it's meant to be, isn't it! Time to cling your way back home! TEST Luck/Pure Luck Vs. 9 15 I am making the assumption that it is possible, just like for tasks, to have several levels of success. If not, the level 15 will just disappear. SUCCESS VS 9 TEXT You give the coins. You slide the wheel, and let yourself bath in its purring. When you open your eyes again, you won! Easy, isn't it! You pocket your profit, and cheer for your @friend@ while he manages to cut his losses. That was a fun experience. SUCCESS VS 9 EFFECTS +10 Pims +1 gamble +1 relation with @friend@ SUCCESS VS 15 TEXT Your horoscope said it: "Today, you will win at the Vernin lottery". And win, you do! So much, in fact, that you are "gently" being asked to stop there, and never put a foot back again in the lottery. Oh, well, it was a one in a lifetime opportunity, wasn't it! Of course, neither your @friend@, who seems more than a bit jealous, nor the @organizer@ (random Vernin of the beginning) seem to agree with you... what a bunch of sore losers. SUCCESS VS 15 EFFECT +100 Pims +2 Gamble -1 relation with @friend@ -1 relation with @organizer@ FAILURE TEXT Now was probably not the time. Ok, the first spin, you can see you lost, definitly. But the second, the second was so near! Frustrated, you take a third chance, willing it to happen. When the wheel hovers over the x5, you know your time of glory is there... until it lands perfectly on "lose". That's it. You start screaming, raging, puffing and huffing... until @random teacher@ pokes his/her head by the door, gives a circular look, and slowly smiles... Uh Oh... Well, of course, the Pims are lost, and the whole stuff was pretty stressful, but at least the teacher pitied you enough to grace you from detention... that was lucky, wasn't it? FAILURE EFFECTS -30 Pims +2 stress +1 acting +1 competition Exit 3 EXIT TEXT Brute Force. Well they said you needed to spin it, but nobody said you couldn't stop it. TEST Strength/Brute Force Vs. 7 SUCCESS TEXT You spin the wheel, wait for good effect and then, casually, grab it to stop it. It's heavier than you thought, and you wonder for a second if you've not overestimated yourself. Your muscles pull, the structure creaks. At the end, everything holds together, and the wheel stopped on a fair "win x2". You look over at @organizer@, expectantly, your palm out. "Hey wait a minute" he/she begins. You cut him by stretching out, flexing your muscles a bit, then throwing him your best predatory smile. With a visible shudder, the @organizer@ hands you your winnings, before blankly stating "that's all for today". As you make your way out, you distinctly hear him/her blaming your @friend@ for this, banning you from ever returning. Oh well... SUCCESS EFFECTS +20 PIMS +1 threaten FAILURE TEXT You spin the wheel, wait for good effect and then, casually, grab it to stop it. It's heavier than you thought, and you wonder for a second if you've not overestimated yourself. Your muscles pull, the structure creaks. You know things are going to go wrong, very wrong, as soon as you feel your feet lifted from the floor. Unfortunately, at this point, there's not much you can do. You opt for screaming. After a couple of spins, you gently roll on the floor, happily letting the whole world dance around you. You're not dead, and that is the biggest revelation ever! You're shut out in shame, after the @organizer@ disgutingly throws your Pims back at you, but you don't really care... you're alive! FAILURE EFFECT -2 Vitality +1 pure luck +1 piety Investigation INVESTIGATION TEXT Engineering. Something about this wheel strikes you as odd. TEST Insight/Engineering Vs. 5 SUCCESS TEXT Aha! You knew it! The main pivot is definitely set at an odd angle, while the decoration is heaviest on the "lose" quadrant. These dummies completely botched the work, this cannot be working properly... Oh dear, they've even over-greased the stuff, so the impact of their mistake makes it absolutely unavoidable for the wheel to end up on the lose quadrant! ... wait a minute... SUCCESS EFFECT I hope an investigation can open several exits Open exit 4 Open exit 5 Open exit 6 FAILURE TEXT Ack, what a lack of taste, using basic cherry-wood instead of a good old sturdy oakwood structure. That shabby stuff is probably going to collapse on itself on some poor random guy... You start trying to tell it, but the @organizer@ silences you with a dirty look. Fine, his responsibility, anyway the stuff is nowhere near breaking down right now, not your problem then! FAILURE EFFECT Nothing Exit 4 EXIT TEXT Blackmail. I'm sure some of the players would be... interested by what you just found out. TEST Charm/Blackmail Vs. 7 SUCCESS TEXT You ask your friend to wait outside a bit. Obviously wondering about your odd behaviour, he nonetheless complies. Once alone with the @organizer@, you begin a long speech about your hobbies and interests, and how you never thought you'd actually come to lottery but why not. He/she looks unimpressed. That is, until you start talking about your passion for engineering, and how you could easily improve their wheel. After 5 minutes of this little game, the @organizer@ gives up. When you're cornered, you're cornered. You quickly settle on a price for your silence, before exiting. As you @friend@ tries to go back in there, you tell him it's unfortunately closed for the rest of the day. To make up for it, you treat him to an ice-cream. It's not like you can't afford it. Was the @organizer@ always that... imposing? "Listen, you smart ass. I hear A. Single. Word. about it around, and you're dead meat. Understood?" You cannot really answer, but he takes your scared nod as a yes, before kicking you out. As you sprawl on the floor in front of your @friend@, he asks you: "What happened?" You're too busy running away to answer... FAILURE EFFECT +2 Stress -1 courage Exit 5 EXIT TEXT What... what! That's just unbelievable, just wait 'til the teachers hear that! SUCCESS TEXT Lucky! Just as you stomp out of the door, @random teacher@ passes by. You begin a flow of whinning and recrimination and, after a pause, the teacher seems to understand the predicament you are in. Handing you a handkerchief, he/she enters the lottery room. After a bit of dronning and buzzing filtering through the door, the teacher exits again, and smiles at you. "Thank you for putting a stop to this despicable activity, @your name@, this will not be forgotten." TEST Intelligence/Revision Vs. 5 SUCCESS TEXT It's really nothing actually. Just a bit of concentration, good timing, picking the quadran right on the side of "You lose" to avoid suspicion and... There comes the tricky part, the need to increase progressively the weight of the decoration on your target. Not too fast, not too slow, must look natural... That's it! Now for the final touch, and... there it is, the perfect weight, a touch over the other one. The wheel stops spinning, and you win. The @Organizer" looks mildly frustrated, but what can he/she say without giving it away! Plus, you let your @friend@ take a couple of rolls, before leaving. Him happy... You very, very smug. By the time somebody manages to free you to the suddenly very heavy wheel, your foot has been reduced to a pulp. Worse yet, as both the @organizer@ and your @friend@ left in a hurry to "find help", YOU are being accused of being behind this whole lottery thing! All your whining about being under it and not behind it only confuses the teacher further. He already made up his mind, anyway. At least you got to understand your mistake. hecquaro
I'm assuming a couple of things here, so I'm looking forward to seeing if it is possible or not The event can always be adapted.
Legate of Mineta
Erthael; This is great. Everything you wrote here is possible with two minor exceptions: 1) We'll have to use Befriend > 2 for the Prerequisite. 2) Actors can be 'High Relationship', but not a specific number. Thanks! mecharm
Awesome! I love it! The brute strength failure is gold... Just a minor note; im pretty sure you would get detention...in Academagia the only way not to get detention is to be already in detention... hecquaro
More of a question of balance, really. I've tried to make the loss/gains on a similar level throughout the event, and detention is quite a heavy loss Plus, there's quite a massive amount of events where in all logic you'd get detention (like that failure to catch a thief that end up blocking the guard who write a pissed note to school) but you either get demerit or stress or lose vitality, so I went the same path, something like the teacher is convinced by your sudden streak of acting (understand: whining) or something. -30 Pims is also quite a hit Glad you like it!
