While I love to play soccer and other sports, my main interests lie behind the computer and then mostly playing games. Ranging from a wide scala of genres I prefer RPG's, RTS and Shooters. Though the occasional point and click adventure might grab my interest above average as well.

However above all those interests and hobbies there is one towering above it; writing!

I love to write, create new stories, even read other people's stories. Unfortunately I am not skilled with an abundance of talent, especially trying to write in a foreign language. My biggest dream however is and will always be that one day I'll be good enough to write a book and get it published.

1. Hold on Schwarzbart, I see your point, but your point also points out how these games should be; 1) not forced upon, but rather chosen. 2) in agreement with the setting and content off the game. Now take for example a little game of dueling. Why not make it a "minigame"? For instance every saturday there are practice duel lessons for which the user could subscribe anytime they wanted. Would that be an idea? Perhaps even add a ranking list with the other students and let the user rise to the top? Would that be a minigame you could agree to?
2. I agree whole heartedly on that point. If I didn't like the game I would be gone like the wind. Still I worry it will scare off many potential buyers.
3. Hmm I have read the article with a lot of interest and I think the writer has a few good points. A few bad ones as well. Even thought me a few things I didn't know. (they needed 50 writers to make this stuff? Sounds a bit much.) However I do agree strongly with him on one point and a point I think the creators should take quite seriously; That the game is rather inaccessible. I think that 9/10 of the average gamers would quite the game before getting even through the first month. There is just so much coming towards you it doesn't invite you to keep playing. I was on my third character before I finally began to see what gem the game could possibly be. And I am a rather experienced player of these types of games. However this leaves me debating myself; on one hand I hope the makers continue this way as it will result in the best games. On the other hand if they make the games inaccessible as they are it will be bad for their sales for the years to come. Even after having played the game through I can't say I really enjoyed it as much as I hoped. Despite having a bit of experience with the game and know how to make the most of my time I still keep running into walls. I know having to make a choice each day is what the game is about, but the game is too big. There is too much to do. Too much to explore. Even if you would do everything perfectly I don't think you could achieve more then 25% of everything that is in the game. That is even harder for starters. Even with the manuals they are thrown into the game with hardly any information and just need to figure it out for themselves. I mean I lost my sister as the character creation screen. Having options is good, but you simply don't know what it will mean for your character. Is glamour good or bad to have? Is filing or library knowledge useful to have? They are forced to make decisions without knowing what it will do. I agree with the writer of the article that it will definitely scare a lot of people away from the game who would probably enjoy it if they were eased into it. Anyway this was not meant as a rant or anything. Just wanted to give my opinion on a subject that has been on my mind a lot and suddenly recognized in an article. MY question is; how do you feel about it? Were you able to finish a full year with your first or second character? Or did you have to start over several times?
4. Yes that is my point exactly. However I do stand by my idea of a different set of "practical" skills that can only be raised by events or actually using spells. Which is something I am currently looking into to see if I can do such a thing in a mod.
5. I personally don't agree with that view. While magic is very powerful I don't think it is everlasting. See it like taking a drug; while it allows you to do things you normally can't, the effect doesn't last forever. The reason why it works this way is quite simple; if it were everlasting every sorcerer, witch, anything with magic power would soon be better than an archmage. Why study for something if you can just magically increase yourself? While I agree that some spells should have better effects, I quite like the idea of them being temporal boosters. Otherwise the game would quickly become boring as not only you, but every student would have lvl 10 everything. That is just my personal opinion though, but I have to admit your idea isn't wrong/bad either. However I am going to ask you; do you think that lasting spells would make the game more fun/keep it interesting longer? If so I'd like to hear mor about your idea's for them. (We might be able to use that for the mod.) EDIT: my apologies I was writing while you made another post. That approach is much better in my opinion, all though I do think we would need a new section then in the skills group. Now we have parent skills and subskills, which would become the theory side. Your side would increase the practical skill of such groups. If that is what you had in mind I'd be thrilled to see that worked out. As I stated earlier in a topic that by practicing we should be able to go above 10. This would be a good alternative.
6. Would you object if I arrange a private server for future issues? It would be open for everyone on academagia, but only through you. (In the sense you determine who uses it or not. I don't want random people abusing it.)
7. o.o that must really be a bad connection. I thought only the uploading was that slow, but guess I was mistaken.
8. Hmm ok. I'll have to try it on monday than. No harm in that. btw, did you succeed downloading as right now the file is wide open for anyone to pick up if they want.
9. Legate did you mean you have all the locations under review or just the one? Since the block puzzle room doesn't work either. I tried 3x (in one day, a sunday, you know the one from the safe with the vendetta) and while my war and research skill are both 10, they all failed.
10. Probably already suggested, but here goes nothing; Can we have a forwards/backwards button added? That you can go to the next subject with the click of a button, instead go back to the main group and then select the topic you want. It would be very useful in magic spells/actions/ability's/ but especially lore. I don't think there even needs to be a new button. I believe we already have a backwards/forwards set of buttons that are frankly not really important as they are hardly used. (by me, I don't speak for others in this case.) Aside from all the other improvements you are making it would help alot. Going back to the mainpage and then selecting the new topic is always alot of unnescecarry work in my opinion and such a button would allow you to systematically search the list till you find something you like.
11. Gamersgate to be honest. Had been doubting to buy the game for a while and finally decided to take the gamble when I had nothing to do and too much money at the end off the month. One of my finest gambles I might add.
12. Allright why not. Since I belief I will stick around to annoy you guys till no ends. Name is Vegejor and coming from the little country in witch Dutch is the main language. Aside from a lunatic and rather annoying at time, I am also very passionate about games and enthusiastic about helping with things I care about. (read academagia.) My goals for academagia are as followed; 1) help with the testing/bug reporting/making suggestions. 2) writing events. (ok this one is really for me ) 3) find or join a modding team to help create something "different" from the "normal" academagia world.
13. As before I don't know if this has been mentioned before; Would it be possible to make a selectable filter for the lore section? I really don't care about everything I know, but the list is so long it makes scrolling for locations tedious. Not to mention that if the list becomes to long you won't go back to the item you selected, but rather end up in the middle of your knowledge section. It would be a great help if we could select to display or not to display that with the click of a button/icon. Also perhaps it is possible to make a filter for your locations whether they are; * Passive Ability's (temporal) * Passive Ability's (Permanent) * You have to actually do something there.
14. Also I'd like a prevention button when deleting a safe game. Just this morning I accidentally deleted a safe game with at least 5 hours of playing on it as I pressed X instead of V. Perhaps the X button should call up a screen and ask if you really want to delete it. Just a thought.
15. If you have read any Harry Potter books, I am sure people will reckognise it; Could we have a spell added that makes the day begin anew? Like when you use it on sunday evening the game will progress as if it is sunday morning again. Without loosing the skills gained/things done. Off course there are great drawbacks; * Huge amount of Stress * Very difficult to use, (at least 3 classes at level 10/maxed out?) * Only twice a week/ once a week? * With every use your maximum vitality is lowered by 1 for a week Inspiration: I got the inspiration from one of the HP books. In there Hermione is allowed to use an item/spell (can't remember) that reverses time for a day. She uses this to be able to follow 2x the many courses each day, thus allowing her to study even more. This was granted to her because of her brilliance and the urge to learn even more but not having enough time. Thought it might be cool to implament something like that.
