Legate of Mineta
Everyone; From time to time, the Team would like to reach out to find obscure and difficult to locate facts. In this case, does anyone know what the mascot of the USS New Orleans was on 1 September '39? Failing that, is there a known pet or pets aboard her at this time? We found mention of a mascot in an interview, but no details.
RockyArby
http://www.steelnavy.org/history/exhibits/show/steelnavy/best/mascots there's mention of monkeys aboard the USS New Orleans in 1899. I'll keep searching for something more in '
Legate of Mineta
RA; That's the protected cruiser N'awlins. Sorry, should have been more specific- we're hunting down CA-32. Thanks! Edit: Looks like she had a black and white cat in '45, but we can't find the name.
Fifrein
I know the Sammy B had a dog named Sammy, and I could probably figure out whether Salt Lake City had a mascot, but I haven't heard anything about Nawlins.
Legate of Mineta
This is a tough one. The truth is out there, but so far we're stuck at the color of the cat.
Wellington99
Well has nothing to do with a mascot, but Warships has a vid out about Nawlins that might be interesting to at least check
