The Adventure Shop

Still on the writing stage of this random event and got an idea for a follow-up already. Ideas are as always welcome.

A bit early stage I know, but I may get the finger out if I post it. Been mulling with this idea for ages now.

”Have you heard? The Adventurer's Potion Shop has a sale.”

It seems to be the news of the day, oddly enough. Apparently there are a few students at the Academagia who fancies themselves candidates for the ”adventurer” title.

You shrug, that the shop has a sale is all good and all, but you don't even know where it is, and you don't even have real weekly based potion classes this year.

”We are going to the Adventurer's Potion Shop” one of the upperclassmen announces proudly and pulls one of his friends by the collar, apparently he just volunteered.

You feel yourself drawing further back, best not “volunteer” yourself by standing too close.

“We are taking orders! Potions, recipes, conical flasks, anything. Just pay us up front and another 3 pim for the transport.

To your surprise there is a number of people gathering to place their orders. A lot actually.

Investigate1: See if you can place your order

This should be interesting! Still there is a huge crowd to go through if you want to place the order.

Locks investigate2, opens Exit 1:

Investigate2: Charm/Negotiation: 3 pim for transport, times a lot of people, divided by 3, that is a lot of pim! Sign up.

Success: You wait for the flock to dissipate before making your business proposition. “Yeah sure” the upperclassman says while frowning as he looks on the list. “We need more hands for this anyway. We split the gold we make by the way, so you better carry your weight!”

Locks investigate1, opens Exit 2, Exit 3, Exit 4

Failure: You wait for the flock to dissipate before making your business proposition. The two exchange a meaningful glance and the boy who started the idea shakes his head. “Thanks for the offer shorty, but I had someone else in mind to help carry. 'Sides are you even allowed to walk outside?” The two give a bark of laughter and head out. Leaving you. All. Alone. Hmph!

+2 Stress. Opens exit 5

Exit 1: Brute Strength: Force your way through the crowd and see what this man sells.

Success: You force your way through the crowd letting your elbows do the talking. You aren't the first to place your order, but you are close and it looks like they got everything on the list. Sweet!

Open catalogue: Alec's Chemical Supplies - Catalog a bit cheap to not make my own, will do so if I find the time.

Failure: You force your way through the crowd, until you elbow a particularly large boy. Gulp! He looks directly at you before giving you a shove. Surprisingly people seem to give you a wide berth as you fall and like a tree felled by loggers you fall to the ground. A few look at you, wondering, before they return to placing their order. Just... great.

-1 Vitality.

Exit 2: Strength/Transport: You know all about transportation. Going from A to B with object C. Easy.

Success: Your little trio makes your way through the city of Mineta a bit later that evening. It turns out your two fellows are really great guys. Funny too. It stops being fun when you arrive at the shop though, and see the amount of crates you got to move from one end of town to the next. Ah well. Best get to work!

+1 Brute Strength, -1 Stress, +Memory: Visited the Potion Shop, +80 Pim (Memory = to unlock adventure - will post it later, hopefully before you close for this DLC)

Failure: Your little trio makes your way through the city of Mineta a bit later that evening. It turns out your two fellows are really great guys. Funny too. It stops being fun when you arrive at the shop though, and see the amount of crates you got to move from one end of town to the next. You won't be done before some time tomorrow. The two others might not care about such a thing as classes and detentions and angry teachers and detention and the teasing and detention... but you do! Bail while there is still time!

+1 Stress + emotion: embarrassed +Memory: Visited the Potion Shop (I'd like to let the wrath of two 4-5th years rain upon the player but.. naah embarrassment might be enough)

Exit 3: Mastery: Get a little "Help" transporting your part of the shipment.

Success: You follow the two to the potion shop happily bantering with one while the other goes inside to place the order. Not five minutes later you are both called in to get the crates. Perhaps you shouldn't be surprised that there is alot here.

A. LOT.

By dragging and pushing you manage to get the one crate moved out of the shop - in the mean time the two others have a levitation spell on three of theirs. They ask if you are alright with your two crates but you reassure them. You'll be fine! You just need to warm up... or something.

They offer to wait but you dismiss that as well. Warming up is a delicate affair after all. One raises an eyebrow and the other frowns. As one starts walking (the crates following dutiful after hovering a feet above ground) the other follows after.

Finally a bit of space to work your magic. Now where to get some minions? Fortunately for you the shop is in the less reputable part of town and you soon find yourself face to face with some drunk sailors. Maybe they aren't sailor drunk but they have certainly been out drinking! They would make great minions! They won't even remember what happened tomorrow - hopefully.

You make with the magic and not long after you got yourself two minions (who stink of booze but you can't have it all). The shop keeper is glad to finally have the last crate out of the house. He doesn't ask questions as to why two sailors are suddenly helping and why they seem to be mumbling "Such a nice bunny". (You aren't entirely sure why they keep mumbling that either...)

Regardless the three of you make your way to the Academagia, your minions carrying the crates.

You make it in good time to the gates, and you order them to place the crates down gently and then go into town and enjoy their evening. By the time they wake the spell should have worn off.

With much huffing and puffing you manage to get the crates to the common room where people are eagerly awaiting their goods.

You did it!

+80 Pim, +2 Mastery Methods, +1 Stress, +Memory: Visited the Potion Shop

Failure: When you get to the potion shop you realize just how much you will have to carry. Two HUGE boxes! You haven't got the strength to carry those, much less make it back in time. No, but a group of minions could do it surely.

You assure the two that you can make it back soon you just have to make a spell, and for that you need full concentration (and no witnesses). They shrug and head off, their boxes floating neatly behind them due to some incantation spell.

You scratch your head. Where would there be people this time of day? A pub, but that is hardly a good place to cast this sort of magic... but maybe you can catch a few straglers as they exit the place! Brilliant!

You find a pub and wait dilligently. Not much later a pair of strong lads exit the pub. This is it, the moment you have been waiting for. You summon a palette and inscribe the phemes...

"Isn't @he/she@ adorable?!" You feel the panic rise as your spell still hovers in the air, a good magician might be able to recognize it. Before you can act though a huge lady in a far too revealing gown clings to you and ruffles your hair. "You are just the cutest thing! Yes you are! Yes you are!!"

She insists on showing you off to her friends - a bunch of burly sour-looking sailors. They clearly do not share her delight in you, perhaps because she drunk all their booze, but that is just speculation.

It takes a surprising amoung of time to get free of the lady and back out to the street. It is too late though, you can't get the crates and get back in time before the gates shut. Defeated you return to the Academagia.

In the common room you are met with several 'BOO's and... was that a rotten tomato? really? Do they still carry around lunch at this hour?

In the end you had to compensate for the wait, and the whole thing left you rather on edge.

Exit 4: Carpentry: You will have to carry crates, crates are heavy. Close the deal, make a wheel, or four.

Success: You have walked to the potions shop, and the crates you will have to move are huge. That is alright though, you got a plan! Being a thinker you've already brought some home-made wheels. While the other two look at you work, facinated and slightly bemused, you manage to attach the two boxes together and add your four wheels to the mix. In the end you are pulling a cart made out of boxes along behind you.

As you pass the front gates to the Academagia the guard can't help but comment that the whole thing looks so adorable. Blushing you arrive at the collage.

While the other two look at you work, facinated and slightly bemused, you manage to attach the two boxes together and add your four wheels to the mix. In the end you are pulling a cart made out of boxes along behind you.

The problem comes as you near the Academagia's grand gate, the wheels (which has been groaning and whining for a long time now) gave out. At a single time two of the wheels crack and one flies off (litteraly, it might have been an odd cloudwood mix...). The two seniors burst out laughing - until the wagon splits open leaving vials, books, a few (very stinking) organic objects on the ground.

In the end the three of you manage to salvage most of the items, and the items did get to the Academagia in somewhat decent time. You just don't get paid as your share goes to cover the costs.

-1 Confidence, +1 Stress, +Memory: Visited the Potion Shop

Exit 5: Practical Joke: (Petty) revenge is at hand!

Success: Sure, you can't take revenge just like that, they are after all your seniors and would likely have you hanging from the flagpole before curfew. You take a few minutes and gather your thoughts and suddenly it is clear.

What are they doing? Bringing in crates. To school. With vials and the gods (and perhaps a few diviners) only knows what.

After their little group have left the Academagia you pay a visit to the gate guard.

You casually begin to talk with the woman on guard, in turn she is completely ignoring you - until you mention a rumor you overhead in the hallway just a minute back. To think that students, our students, would be smuggling alcohol into school. And not just alcohol, but all kinds of forbidden spellbooks and what not.

But it may just have been a rumor. It might be nothing.

You turn to leave and in the corner of your eye you see the narrow focus of the guard. She will certainly make a fuss now. They won't get any sleep tonight and the costumers will be kept waiting.

You can't help but smile a little.

+1 Practical Joke, +1 Innuendo, -1 Stress

Failure: Sure, you can't take revenge just like that, they are after all your seniors and would likely have you hanging from the flagpole before curfew. You take a few minutes and gather your thoughts aaaand... nothing.

You mutter a bit wishing you had brought some of that stink potion with you.

-1 Creativity, +1 Stress

Exit 6: autosuccess: Why bother? There are several better places to spend pim!

Success: You leave them alone, best not to get tangled up in stuff like that.

-1 Curiosity, +1 Reason

I found a catalogue that I thought I'd reference to, but I suppose it might. Certainly HP and Mana potions, it is an adventureres shop after all. Those silly adventuers wouldn't know good magic if it came up and bit them!

Just my Suggestion about this ;)

Investigation 3 Observation Look around

Success

Isn't this a Bottled Smoke Potion that stands there dangerous close at the edge of the self?

Maybe you can use this to your advance.

Failure

Looking around din't help with your situation here.

Practical Joke

Req. Investigation 3

Success

You "acential" bumped into the person standing next to shelf wo in turn hit the tray where the Smoke potion is at.

When the botle then shaters on the ground the room was filled in a instant with a black smoke what resoulted in a nice chaos.

Failure

hmm Ok here I am missing a good idea

A Brewing / Glory exit where you hijack the business by brewing better potions right here seems fun!

You forgot failure for Exit 4 / Carpentry. My suggestion? The cute little cart breaks down right in front of the gate, spilling potion all around and blew up the Great Gate of Academagia in one go. :P
