Found this about the US Coast Guard during WW2. The Coast Guard has actually been in the war since '39.  :)

It's three years away, but here's a British Pathe video from when HMS Howe and HMS Anson were finished and started service. Obviously very propaganda-like but always great to see real footage of ships, and how they manage to get them from mooring to the open sea.
