Schwarzbart
Sounds like we got a new Skill with dual requirement (Glamour & Astrology)
Legate of Mineta
Haha, Free will be delighted.
freespace2dotcom
hmmm. So technically, the "extra classes" are in fact 1 on 1 time with an instructor on a subject after class hours? Wow. That's quality tuition! Is this what you meant by how advanced classes are taught in a different way? Prophetic Dreams...that is a good question. Maybe a hybrid of Astrology and Glamour? I'm not sure. That's... an interesting combo. Not exactly the kind of class I'd drool to sign up for, though. (And, schwarzbart, if I find such an dimension during my Gates adventures, I'll send the exact phemes to you via Mastery. It's just easier to do that way.) Legate of Mineta
Free; Correct.
freespace2dotcom
That's just awesome! Are those extra classes taken from the same pool of subjects as the regular classes or are there a few extra?
Dreamweaver
It sounds like it'll be more effective than regular school attendance if there's a teacher doing 1 on 1 tutoring.
freespace2dotcom
Perhaps maybe even.... SUPER EFFECTIVE!!! Heh, I think I see if I can get my extra class with Briardi. There are a couple reasons for that. 1. She's a master of Negation. Probably the most Important pillar to learn. 2. It will drive those Durand boys wild when they find out their regent is giving 1 on 1 time with an Aranaz boy
Legate of Mineta
Free; You will not be able to study outside of your College, as you suggest, so...plan well.
freespace2dotcom
...? You lost me. Then why can one take Negation in Y1 as Aranaz? Or are you saying that those extra classes are College specific only? (lame)
Schwarzbart
Not sure if I got it right but I suspect the Legate want to say that this extra class can only be something from the specialisation of your College. What would make sense because one of the 3 ways to get this is that your one of the favourite students from the regent of your College. Would it be enough to get this high relationship with your Regent before the summer break is over in year 2?
freespace2dotcom
Well if that allows only a college related class then the usefulness shoots way, WAAAAAY down. I like orthography and all, but I'll learn all of that in due time. I suspect that we will be evaluated at the beginning of the academic calendar on juvenalia. We should have until then to fidget our plans according to our likings. And then cash in all that favor immediately thereafter.
Legate of Mineta
Free; Yep, it's essentially private instruction, and they are only willing to do that for Students in their College. General Classes you can still take cross-College, of course.
Schwarzbart
So this means we can get a education similar to what will be at year 4 and 5 at the cost that we have next to no free time? Will this special Class more advanced then what we can learn regular (i.e. similar to a year 3 skill)?
Dreamweaver
So you can get private tutoring from someone who isn't affiliated with any college (for instance Contzel Ringraeyer), but not Polisena as she will reserve her time for one of her own students? Or are the extra classes solely college-related?
freespace2dotcom
I think most of the professors are tied to a college. It just isn't obvious in y1. Unless taking college related tutoring in year 2 allows you to opt out of mandatory classes in Y3 I don't see the value.
Legate of Mineta
Free is correct, the Instructors are all tied to a College, with one exception. The Classes aren't more advanced, but they are more specialized.
freespace2dotcom
Well, I suppose we shall have to adopt a wait and see policy. I think it was a bit of a misnomer to call them extra classes though. They're almost extraneous specialized tutoring but... mhhh... I should bite my tongue until I see the final product, but, mhhhh. I feel as if a great wind has been knocked away from my metaphorical sails. I'd rather dedicate the timeslots to learn Gates and Mastery. At least then I'll avoid over-crippling specialization... mhhhhh...
Legate of Mineta
Free; Hahah! Sorry. You'll have to get creative for that one...
MadHatt
So, if say, we were Godina, we would specialize with Ol' King Leo for sports or play music? Now I just got the imagery of using a violin to kick a ball. Well, at least we'd be really good at Rimbal. Will the sports be a more fully rounded experience? As in, get on the Rimbal team, play for the championship and such? I forget if this was asked before. With special classes, sports, self-study, the Sphinx, the adventures and all the groups and secret societies, my character won't have time to sleep, I bet. At least there's self-Mastery. Is there a spell that would be the equivalent of a really really strong shot of espresso? And if we decide not to sleep can we have an extra timeslot? *bats puppy eyes*
Legate of Mineta
Hatt; It depends on the College what's available. You can play on the Rimbal Team, and there are indeed championships. "And if we decide not to sleep can we have an extra timeslot" Not precisely, no.
Schwarzbart
Is there some way our chars can enter such speak competition as it is mentioned in Student Adventure Emilia P 8 Exit 2? According to the text such competition are every few weeks so I wonder that I so fare never saw a way to join such a event with my Oratory 10 chars.
Legate of Mineta
Yep, you may join competitions.
Schwarzbart
Already in year 1? Then I must have missed the action, ability or adventure for this oO. Will familiars that can use spells in their year 1 adventure be able to regular cast spells in year 2?
Svinik
Well, I suppose we shall have to adopt a wait and see policy. At least then I'll avoid over-crippling specialization... mhhhhh... A lot will depend on the approach towards missed classes and detentions - in practice this may simply mean more "official" sessions that train you and less need to skip lessons in order to learn something - which does seem rather counter-intuitive but is certainly true at the Academagia. I'd have hoped though that some otherwise "blank" lessons that taught nothing would have flipped to teach the extra classes but ce la vie. Hmm, thanks to Adauli for adding to Mikka's Adventure Guide on the wiki regarding the board game - but does anyone know the actual prerequisites? My Hedi chap had wordliness 4 and playfulness 10 and didn't have access to it, but the guide says 3/3 should be enough...
Schwarzbart
your maybe to late in the game as this adventure have a point where you latest can start it. In my planning in the writer corner it was Fountain Days Vernaix as the last day when you could start it. As they nearly 1 to 1 took my adventure to the game I would think they also took this time limit.
