Metis
Well, class skipping ahoy . If all goes right, of course.
Schwarzbart
What make me wonder when we can test the import tool with all our y1 chars But for now we first have to wait for the Y1 Greenlight.
Legate of Mineta
Import Tool is the very last thing we'll do, just before launch. And we'll want as many of your characters as possible for the testing.
Metis
Having a DLC 17 to play with would help in that regard .
Legate of Mineta
Yep! As many as we can, from as many DLC as we can.
freespace2dotcom
Schwarzbart; Yes, the bug is corrected. Sorry guys! Edit: Mmmm...corrected, but a bit less stringent than it was before. You can skip class a touch more without too much danger. Finally, ha! Be sure to tell the team to include the correct patch this time! haha! Edit: will the import tool tell us what dlc a character was played under?
Schwarzbart
Sadly I didn't keep my very old save files. The oldest save file I current still have is from March 2012
Metis
Most if not all of the savefiles I still have were made with a small list of mods that I may or may not still have (the correct version of), so...yeah.
Legate of Mineta
Free; Yes, it will tell you which Mods you've loaded it under.
freespace2dotcom
Well, the oldest save I have goes back to 2011. Though I didn't keep very many saves, often discarding the less than desirable playthroughs
HeatTalon
Uh oh I just realize that my saves are probably gone with my computer. I will just wait for the Steam version for a replay. Or several.
Metis
Speaking of Steam, can the Team confirm whether or not a GoG version will (not) exist? I vaguely recall that idea being mentioned before, but either without a clear answer or without an answer I managed to remember - likely the former, considering the (understandable) uncertainty. Legate of Mineta
Metis; Oh, the answer was no: GoG has not chosen to select any of our games yet. We were really surprised to learn that Steam was easier, to be honest.
Metis
Eh...there'll be a DRM-free version of Y2 available somewhere come release, right? I don't care to sign the ownership of my games off to Valve.
Legate of Mineta
Metis; Yep, I think BMT and GamersGate as usual.
Schwarzbart
Schwarzbart; Well, you mustn't forget that Academagia is a hobby for we that work on it. A beloved hobby, but still part time for us. Belles is full time for the ones working on it, though. Are all projects except for VB "just" hobby or where at last the Kickstarter projects (planed) fulltime jobs for some?
Metis
Considering the ridiculously inflated budget VB got I sure hope it's a full-time job for at least a few people.
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; When we do a KS (including Holdfast) those folks are full time- else we couldn't meet our deadline. AM and Scheherazade though, are part for us.
Schwarzbart
Its kind of sad that a great game as Academagia don't sell enough to pay for fulltime jobs.
Legate of Mineta
Schwarzbart; Ugh no kidding.
Metis
Steam might change that, though I imagine only with the release of Y2 if Y1 makes a good impression.
Legate of Mineta
Metis; Yeah, hopefully the scaling UI will also help.
Metis
Probably, but IIRC I'm afraid that there were more shortcomings pointed out during Academagia's initial release which haven't been addressed since, and it's hard to say that the Team never got the chance to fix them in the intervening years. Of course, good luck marketing any primarily text-based CYOA game in this day and age no matter how perfect it is or isn't. If not the game it'll be the competition that kills it. Legate of Mineta
Metis; Well, we'll see. I'm not sure there is *any* competition for what Academagia does, specifically, but who knows.
Metis
I mean competition in the sense of the other, what, thousands of games on Steam that will likely end up being cheaper and with less of a difficulty curve. Or difficulty in general. Whatever floats people's boats these days.
